M-88 .284 questions
Did Win. manufacture the 88 chambered in .284 after 1964? Are all 88s factory D&T for a scope base? Thanks, 1886.

Re: M-88 .284 questions
I don't thik they did. My Dad bought his 88 in .284 in '66 as a "closeout" He paid $100 out the door, with a box of ammo thrown in. The semi-auto .284s were also on closeout. My uncle bought one of those (I imagine he still has it).

[Are all 88s factory D&T for a scope base?]
According to BBGV, in regards to Winchester's M88/M100 .284 Win chambering:
Both the pre & the post-64 Model 88's were so chambered & available - until 1973.
Also, the pre-64 Model 100 - but only for one year (SN range 72,xxx w/no letter prefix/suffix).
The post-64 Model 100 rifle & 19" carbine were also so chambered until 1973.
Some production occurred in Japan.
AFAIK, all Model 88's & 100's were factory scope prepped (D/T'd).

Japan? Which serial numbers? Does that apply on guns marked "New Haven, Connecicut"?Pete44ru wrote:Some production occurred in Japan.
