Though I have some bigger ones,(16 gallon Stainless Craftsman Pro)The one I always use the most and it works fantastic is the Milwaukee 0880-20 18V 2 Gal Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum,I am a big fan of Milwaukee Cordless stuff(got all their stuff) I absolutely love that Vacuum! Use it to even clean my Harman P38 Pellet stove every 2 weeks, its that good!

Reason, I got turned on to the Milwaukee stuff is that my oldest brother which now has his own Company(he used to be the Construction Supervisor for Scott Weliver Construction Company)ya know that guy that now is co-owner of the NASCAR Drivers Car Teams of #29-Kevin Harvick, #10-Scott Riggs and #25-Brian Vickers! Anyway--- he always used Milwaukee stuff and he could not kill it.For someone like me he said it will last forever.

I have a 16 gallon Craftsman vacuum that is over 20 years old and is still going strong. I've replaced the filter several times over the years, but other than that, it has been trouble free and can still suck the warts off a horned toad!! :

I wondered how you'd get away without "OT" in front of that post...

In Home Depot for $19.97 they have a W/D top that fits on any five gallon bucket! It come with the hose and has replaceable filters. If I needed one I would give this a look :D

I've had one of these on the job for at least three years and I just can't kill it!! I love it. Best shop vac I've ever owned. It's not cheap, but it should be the last one you'll need for a good long time. Great suction and a compact package. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Thing to remember is it is very important to use proper filters.Stuff like Drywall dust or pellet stove ash must have the Hepa (micron)type filters(Drywall Dust Filters etc)trying to save a few bucks there will trash your vac pretty quickly!
Dewalt makes a good replacement Hepa Filter bag!

The costlier ones might be longer lasting, but for that price, you could replace a burnt-out one every year and still save money. Unless it just isn't powerful, or something.

IMHO for the money Craftsman is as good as any. To me the best art about Sears stuff is that if it breaks and I want to fx it myself I can easily get spare parts sent to my home via their 800 number.

My wife got me a "cheap" shop vac many years ago. I can't find it right now, I think we finally threw it out. That thing couldn't suck talcum powder from an otherwise clean board. I want a good one.

Hobie

I use this Shop Vac in the machine shop just about every day. I've sucked up stuff that probably shouldn't go thru any vacuum you want to last. Plastic particles embedded with ceramic, wood, metal chips, small drills, pencils and numerous other stuff that's gotten in the way. It's even been used to suck up the oil that has accumulated at the base of our CNC mill. It's taken a beating but still keeps on Sucking, as long as you change the filter when it gets clogged. I highly recommend it.

I have the Shop Vac 10-gallon with the 6.5 HP motor and it has been everything I've ever needed in an industrial strength vacuum. I usually use it with the smaller diameter hose kit and sometimes wish it had a "suction bleed-off" as sometimes I find it too powerful for certain tasks as the suction head will stick tight due to its exceptional power. Here's a link to the model I have->

you might want to check the noise output before
you buy. i have three wet dry vacs, the one that
works best[big and powerful] is so loud, i have to
wear my shooting muffs while it's on.
careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

Hobie,
I believe I have 5 shop vacs around here---garage, barn, house, basement. The one I like the best for my gunroom is the smallest one--about a 1 and 1/2 gallon job. Although each shop vac has "2hp" "1hp", or "72hp" :D written on them, they all seem to have the same "pulling power".

The small one fits under the bench real nice, along with it's attachments--is easy to manipulate---easy to dump out---makes less noise than the big block shop vacs-------and..................costs about $25 at Home Depot :D

I keep mine right under the drill press with enough hose to go all around my 14 X 14 gun room if need be.---------Sixgun

Hobie, I got a FREE Shop-Vac about 6 or 8 years ago from some
promotion or other. It works great. I think Shop-Vac makes some
of the Sears stuff, as the Sears filters fit it. I use it for pellet stove
ash, sawdust, drywall dust, etc. With the right filters, it works great.
I dunno if it is the MOST powerful on the market, but it does the job
for me and the price sure was right! :-)

Nope. I have a bunch of Craftsman bench top tools, and they all work well. Great value for the money, and Sears really, REALLY supports our troops. They will continue to pay their employees any difference in pay they may see when they are called up for military service.
