What a joy,,,,,,
that sweet little 9422 is! I have not shot it for four weeks and just got an order for half a dozen rabbits.
I removed the sling and gloved my white hands and pulled my hat down low, it was at this point Tia realised we were to be sneaking about and did her best to walk to heel assisted by my reminding her
I worried at first because I had not shot at rabbits heads for the past six months I think but then remembered how much confidence this little carbine gives me and started the hunt.
The first buck was spotted feeding away at 30yards or so and was taken easy.
A little walk and number two was spotted at over 100yds, a short stalk got me down to 70yards to my thoughts. I aimed at his head and was surprised how steady the cross was and gently squeezed the trigger. Pop-smack, number two taken. He was 68 paces! The third showed up at 8yds and the fourth was a 50yds shot. All four taken off hand!
The last two (not in the photo) were taken rested but I missed with shots five and six also rested Shot seven was off hand at 40yds and shot eight was a 70plus but rested and all though I struggled to get the dog to go that far she did eventually fetch it back for me.
This 22 is the best 22 I have ever owned, it never loses zero and it just about shoots any ammo, I want to be buried with it just in case they like rabbit where I end up
Nath.

Cool, Nath. I really like my 9422, but she doesn't have optics on it, just ole iron sights.

Nath,
I know exactly what you are talking about reguarding that 9422. Way back in 1977 I bought myself one for my Christmas present. It has satisfied my .22 RF shooting needs so well, I've never even seriously considered buying another .22 rifle.
My coffin's gonna be awfully heavy when they burry me. Probably need a fork lift to carry it

rjohns, it is very mild today here, dull with low cloud and some drizzle.
I sent Tia on a rabbit just before this picture because at first I thought I had jawed it but it was ok so yeah she had just been running about

Nath,
Great picture; it has it all. Gun, game and especially the little lady. I used to train my Brittainy with a group of guys who field trialed springers. Night and day, flusher and pointer but I learned a lot from those guys that I applied to my Brit. Now the real reason for my reply. It's apparently a cultural difference I don't understand. What do you mean when you say you had an order for six rabbits?

Thems rabbits boys, big'ns round here. The've bin munching on wheat n' clover all summer.
Bob, when I say "an order" I mean as in the local butcher shop has requested some.
My wife works there on a Saturday and she say folk are asking for them again.
One customer use to have me collecting the rabbit livers for her son whome was a top chef somewhere in london and he was making rabbit liver pat`e (Spelling ) !!
Got to go get some wood pidgeon for a French gent now, thats an air gun job in a small wood where they come in to roost.
