I do enjoy picking up the guitar every now and then but I don't play well. I like rock and bluegrass but I don't do country.

Just bought a new F-150 with way over 100 stations of Sirius radio.
#1 button=Bluegrass
#2 button=50s rock
#3 button=Elvis
Don't much care about the others.
BTW, not one commercial in over 3 months! Yes!

I play acoustic guitar, mandolin, and bass, so dig them a lot.

but I still like to listen and sing along. I envy you fellows that can play a musical instrument. My wife or I neither one have any musical talent but our son does.

I've messed around with a guitar since I was young, but like many things....jack of all trades, master of none. I have a Sigma Martin guitar....a Korean knockoff of a Martin. Two of my older brothers got a Martin D-28 for their birthday and always wanted one. Mine sounds really nice and I just mess around with it. As for music, I was sitting in my Grandparent's house about 1982 and heard Bill Monroe on Hee Haw for the first time. He sang "In the Pines" and I thought WOW! Have loved Bluegrass ever since. Favorites are Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, Doc Watson and Allison Krause among others. Have Bluegrass Junction on Sirius Radio which is awesome.

Had a bunch of guitars. Taylor, Martin, Guild, Fender, etc. As for "Hill Billy Music" not sure where to draw the line but for country western I'll take Patsy Cline at the top by her self. Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins. I tend toward pop rather than country music. Lean Rimes is great on that tune that made her career--forget title but blues-like.

Remember The Platters singing Only You and Twilight Time? Super. Pop tunes, of course.

I like Dwight Yoakum's music and George Strait,Jamie Johnson,Marty Robbins,Hank Snow,Patsy Cline,Merle Haggard etc. I DON"T like what is sometimes passed off as country music like Rascal Flats or that Chesney fella. I listen to other types too,I like Celtic sometimes and I'm a big fan of Walela.

For country I like Willie Nelson,George Strait,Toby Keith,Mary Chapin Carpentar,Dwight Yoakum's cool too.

Favorite type of music my wife and I listen too most--- Eagles,America,Steve Miller,Peter Frampton,Lynyrd Skynyrd,Styx,Boston,Foriegner,Ted Nugent,
Also we try to see them every chance we can in concert: awesome shows.Keith Urban puts on a great show too. If only one to attend pick Ted Nugent in concert----This is a happening not an event!

What they call country now days was rock n' roll when I was growing up. I don't care much it any more. Bluegrass is OK but I've really been bitten by the "old time" bug and clawhammer banjo in particular.

While on vacation I got to listen to a couple of CD's I bought by Mary Z. Cox who is a clawhammer style player. One of the destinations while on the trip to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia was to Hillsboro, WV the home of Dwight Diller. I visited the gift shop opperated by Dwight's Wife and picked up some of his music and a movie he started in called "The Fifth String." Both are clawhammer players but they both have unique styles.

Dwight prides himself in preserving the West Virginia style mountain music, but both players play clear crisp music that is a welcome relief from today's out of time mangle of notes.

I used to play a pretty fair old timey Fender Bass. Played Jug on a few tunes. Other than that, I've played tuba, euphonium and bass/tenor trombone on about every kind of music you can play on those instruments......these days, I listen to all types of jazz and in particular, old trad. jazz/dixieland/big band.... Hope I have time to attend the entire Ring Cycle the next time it's in Seattle (Wagner)

Easy. For a Utube video find the URL, its in a window(box) on the righthand side of the utube page. Left click on the url. Right click on select all. Then right click again on it, then left click copy.
Type your message in Leverguns, and left click on your post when you want to insert the URL. Then right click on paste.

Country? Only country music I will listen to is pre-1992. After '92, it went straight down the toilet, beginning with "Achy Breaky Heart".

Bluegrass? Now that's real music. Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Osborne Brothers, Lewis Family, Cox Family, Alison Krauss (especially with Union Station), Del McCoury, IIIrd Tyme Out, etc. Love it. Really like Nickel Creek. Their mandolin player, Chris Thile, is unbelievable. Listen to "Ode to a Butterfly". It's simply amazing!

I also like Blues. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, etc. Very good stuff. It has the opposite effect on me than on some people. I get energized by the blues.

I have a Fender Stratocaster that I picked up about 3 weeks ago and trying to learn on it. Also have an Ibanez accoustic electric. Have a couple of books and learning the notes on the 4th string now. All still sounds pretty bad. Sure the dog would want to go outside, if I ever let him in the house and I picked up the guitar.

Father was highly talented musician, too bad he was killed when I was so young, maybe I would have gotten into learning this stuff when I was young and it was much easier. Daughter takes after her Grandfather. Think it all skipped me.

As far as music, I go for rock. 60's is my favorite, but will listen to some recent country as wife has corrupted me over the last 19 years, as thats what she likes, along with 80's rock. Funny, I knew some country songs before we met, but never let her know. She would play her music and I would make a face like I ate something sour, so she would laugh at me. We had been married about a year and she put on some Conway Twitty and I started singing to it. Her jaw about hit the floor. I laughed and told her that just because I really didn't like it much, didn't mean I hadn't listened to it. Earlier girlfriend liked some country also. Like Reba (still think shes HOT), Strait, Keith, Garth (GO POKES) and others.

Bit of classical. Bach's Brandenburg concerto #3 allegro moderato, is my favorite piece. Love "Amazing Grace" to the bagpipes

Got to love the Guitars! Been playing since three. ya,I can play the country stuff pretty good.I do a mean Dualing Banjos/Wildwood Weed/Foggy Mountain Breakdown/Classical Gas/ stuff etc.Also my brother plays very well so we do a mean Ghost Riders.He plays the rythum and I play the lead on my Fender Tele.He really loves performing in front of people(used to play at coffee shops around Penn State Universty when he went to college there.He does the Alices Resturant whole version perfect(like for 30mins straight while not missing one line and playing his guitar)what a ham.Me, I more like the band deal and just let my guitar do my talking for me.We both laugh about how we each had the fastest production motorcycles at the same time in the early-mid 70s,each had a "900 Kawasaki Z1" and we both played guitars.These were both "chick magnets" Bikes and Guitars"take the girls riding/serenade them later that night"these nice guys"man did they fall for that.Still have a cycle and a lot of guitars!

Old Savage your wife must be a top lady if she likes Dwight Yoakam, my wife and me just love his music, went to see him here in Sydney a few years back I could only describe his concert as FANTASTIC, man it's a real let down when you walk out side back into the real world after a Dwight concert, we have 8 or 9 of his C D's and reckon he is the best of modern day Country Rock singers.
For old time cowboy music Marty is king, also like Hank Lochlin, Bennie Barnes, and Wyn Stewart.

Win 86 - We saw Dwight here in a very small venue. He just basically sang straight for about 2 1/2 hrs. He lives about 50 miles from her. My wife thinks he is really cute his get up and loves those moves. You've got those little ways ..... hurtin me .... and of course Bakersfield isn't far.
