It amazes me how many posters on Oleg Volks forum didn't know that was an 1894 Winchester rifle. Duh........

Would be fun to shoot and no need ear muffs though.

I am a member of "Rimfire Central" forum and there are a bunch and I mean "A Bunch" of guys over there that have suppressors on their Ruger 1022's and pistols too.
It seems they are very popular in the UK also.

My 1893 Marlin Special Lightweight, takedown came from the factory with a Maxim silencer. It still has the threads, but the silencer was destroyed by the seller when I purchased it.

Hobie, I'll be at Hite Hollow tomorrow (Tuesday) with a few suppressed handguns, M16, MP5, AND one special belt feed baby that just can't get enough 5.56x45mm!

Swing by if you can, should be there around 11ish. Just look for a Dodge 4x4 Quad Cab, if there is more then one there, look at the tags, you'll figure out it's me. :D

I've thought of suppressing something around here for a while now. Not that I can't shoot. It's just that I don't like drawing that much attention to myself any more. Since there are more people moving in around me you never know who they might be.

"I believe you could once buy a rifles from Winchester with the Maxim silencers."
--Hobie

@ one time, I had a . 30 WCF Winchester M194 that was factory-threaded for a Maxim silencer. It had a round knurled cap that threaded onto the octagon barrel for when you didn't want to use the silencer. I never could find an original or reproduction silencer, so I sold it to a Winchester aficionado who just had to have it.

I've been told that @ one time the ammunition manufactures did make a sub-sonic .30 WCF round just for these rifles. I've never seen any such ammunition nor have I been able to verify the statement. Has anyone any information on this?

And that is one of the most bizzare things I can think of.

The Crown won't let you have Pistolas, but you can suppress dang near anything, whereas we can Glock our way to the market, but have to undergo a rectal exam to get a suppressor... if your State will even "permit" it.

Absolutely absurd.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the deal with suppressors? Is it illegal to have a gun with one or is it just illegal to sell them?

Would be nice to have one just to save the ears, one of the reasons I shoot a bow so much. I guess 'they' want the report of a gun going off...

It depends on the laws in your state too, but here is a FAQ from ATF on Class 3 firearms. You'd have to look at your state's laws on their lawful use as far as hunting, storage, exc.

Edited to add, if you are interested in owning a class III firearm or silencer the best bet would be to talk to Class III Dealer.
"People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right.' Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work."

Saw a Remington bolt gun (788) in 44 Magnum suppressed - THAT would be sweet - load the biggest slug you can get moving at maybe 900 fps and it would quietly whack whatever you wanted. The 788 is an accurate platform, too!

I agree though that a 1895 would be cool though!

Why do you think the Urban Ratholes are all starting to get "Sound Locators" to go with the Surveilance Cameras they are putting up all over their "disarmed" but crime-ridden neighborhoods?

Old Irons, the commies over here were reluctant to "allow" supressers over here at first but some clever so and so called the health and safety trump card as in hearing damage for employees that use rifles ie, deer stalkers. They are also good at reducing recoil.
I my self can not do with them. I would hate to have to carry a bi-pod in order to aim the darn thing(not counting the short'ns).
Y Kid, man thats funny hearing you call your land "nanny state". Let me assure you that you are a bit of that yet friend
