OT-Found in the garage.

Well last weekend was garage cleanup, and after pulling my classic Camaro out, I started cleaning up. Stumbled across my old Honda that had been covered and sitting for the last 8 yrs., so I rolled it outside too and continued cleaning. After a bit of cleanup, I walked outside and pulled the cover off the bike. Still looked OK, just really dusty, even under the cover.
I got a bit sidetracked once the wife left, and wondered if it might still run after all this time? Down to Batteries Plus, and soon came home with a new battery. Then drained the gas, oil, changed plugs, new fuel, fuel line, filter, etc..... and with a shot of starting fuid, the darn bike fired up and ran! After a bit of tuning, and tweaking it even went for a short ride. (not long without plates!!)
Got back home and washed and waxed her. Went for new plates today, and now it's just getting a few maintenance items done like a new camshaft belt, rear tire, brakes, etc. and hopefully she'll be ready for another summer of rides! This old Goldwing is a 1976 GL1000 LTD, with around 39,000 miles, but still feels great after 33 yrs.! Not sure why I've ignored her for the last 8 yrs.??

Great bikes! 39,000 miles, hardly broken in yet. Looks to be in great cond. Is a good solution to high gas prices in the summer. The camaro in the background looks pretty nice also. More details on it? Good luck with both.

I wish I could ride again - but I had to sell my snortin' Norton when sudden vertigo attacks started to beset me in the late 80's.
I didn't mind dumping by myself, but I didn't want to get dizzy in a 75mph curve with my wife on board (we used to ride together daily).

that is very kewl. congrats. glad you found that one!! I just took my honda to the shop and had work done two weeks ago. I had it inspected and they noted it was three years overdue (oops). Not 8 years but 3 years without riding it. too funny. good for you

The car is something I bought myself when I got home from the service in 1973. It's a 1971 SS396 Camaro, that the original owner bought and had the engine swapped at the dealership to a 425hp 427 Corvette engine. I've played with it quite a bit over the last 36 years, and it's presently a pro street setup, with some reworked heads, 520 liift cam, Edelbrock Torker intake, 780 Holley, a set of Doug's headers, locker rear, Mickey Thompson Pro street tires, and Transgo full competition automatic trans. Drive it almost daily in the good weather, but too squirrely to drive in damp weather.

Just fired up my motorcyle this last weekend . 1990 Kawi Concourse. I don't ride it much with kids , I think I only put on 500 miles last year. I also just helped my brother rebuild the front forks on his bike. I used to put 12K miles a year on my bike and get a different one every 3 or 4 years. Times have changed.

I gave up on cars when I realized how much it cost to hop them up . Not that I didn't spend my share of time under the hood. I sold my 57 Chevy about 10 years ago , but still have my Corvair Spider (no muscle car by any means.)

They are one of the finest bikes ever made.
In 1976 I bought a new 900 Kawasaki Z1B,Ya it was fast until the 1978 yamaha XS1100 came out. I was a very young punk then and speed was everything.
My uncle had a 1976 Goldwing and he made me ride it to Penn State (Main) That was the nicest bike I have ever rode.All I heard was the wind.Keep that bike!!its a darn classic/and will last you forever. 39K is just broken in.

Man that rear wheel is no fun to get off the bike, and once off I figured out those tires are more like car tires! Not an easy task to get off the rims either, but it's done! Since it's such a tadk I installed a new set of pads on the calipers, just so I wont have to pull that wheel again!
No cam belts yet. Somehow they shipped 20 minutes apart, but one came Friday, and the other is still nowhere in sight? How does that work?
