Belated Beer Report

Post by crs »

Our Memorial Day cookout featured grilled Nilgai burgers and fresh corn on the cob (grilled in the husk).
I needed an interesting beer to complement this meal and came across something new to me - the Shiner Family Reunion. This is a 100 year anniversary production of the Spoetzl brewery in Shiner, Texas and it is a six pack of six different Shiner beers. They vary from very light to a Bohemian dark and are all very tasty.
So, for you Texas beer drinkers, try some - you will like at least some of them and I will gladly take any that you have left over! :D
I am in fact, drinking the last one right now - a Shiner Blonde - very light and relaxing. :)

I've never had a Shiner Blonde before but, it sure is hard to beat a ice cold Shiner Bock on draft. I'll have to pick up some Shiner Blonde and give it a try.

I have been drinking Shiner Bock since it first came out. Probably drank enough of it to own half the brewery. Good stuff Manerd.

Ricky;
I recommend that you pick up the Shiner Family Reunion Six Pack and sample them all.
One of them is named after the original Spoetzl brewmaster and is a treat!
But if you prefer Blonde,,,,, :P

Yet another example of why Texas could secede - we even have our own quality beers. ;)

Meh. Alaska has Texas beat. Midnight Sun has some of the most extraordinary brews going anywhere in the world right now. This one is my favorite:
