A long time ago in another town I had a student who was the only girl in a geology class. She was a nice looking, well dressed young lady. About the middle of the spring semester, I noticed by the way her clothes were fitting that she was in the family way. I figured she was just far enough along to show and since we were about to have a big field trip, I needed to discuss what she could and could not do.

The Monday I decided to have the talk with her, she was absent. Her little brother told me later in the day that she had surprized their folks the night before by needing to go to the ER to have a baby. Nobody in the family had a clue.

Some folks just ain't payin' attention.

I know a better one.

A friend of mine's married, adult daughter got up one morning feeling pretty ill, again. She'd been in a motor vehicle accident and was sure she'd suffered a head injury that made her feel this way. When she started having "cramps" she thought something terrible had happened. The boy is 5 years old now... She had NO idea whatsoever...

While I'm no expert, the wife is she's had two, it's pretty hard to miss the signs of pregnancy. Some can hide them well, but be unaware? Just saying.

Must have been one tired little fella in the womb. My children kicked the you-know-what out of my wife when she was pregnant with each one. Would have been hard to miss.

Now, hiding it from other people, that all depends on the gal. If she is, how shall we say, "generous of proportions" to begin with, it can be done. I saw this happen to a couple girls in high school way back when.

Anybody remember when a thing called "SHAME" kept incidents of this sort down to rare events?

That was our feeling but she truly had no idea. We feel she was distracted by the auto accident injuries which occurred at about the same time as the conception.

Now, that IS a pretty strange headline. But each woman handles pregnancy differently. Some show signs almost from the first month. Others seem to barely show at all. I've got a little bundle sitting in a baby carriage beside my desk as I type this. His mother, one of "our girls", barely showed any evidence of pregnancy until around month 7. The last month, however, she swelled up like a balloon. :D It's been interesting seeing her and her husband adjust to the new arrival. Talk about clueless... But I digress. A friend of my wife's was "in the family way" and managed to keep it hidden by using a belly band wrapped tight until she was about in the 7th month. Some folks were surprised to hear that two months after the wedding she gave birth. She was married in her seventh month of gestation and her wedding gown (inappropriately white) was of such a design that it hid the evidence quite well.

Now, if y'all have daughters and don't want them to end up the way that the 14 year old in the headlines did, give them the love and affection and discipline that is appropriate. A girl who is shown proper love and affection and direction by her father will rarely allow herself to be manipulated into premature sexual experimentation. Too many kids are raised by the mass media and government schools rather than with a traditional family setting. It's a real shame we've allowed our society to sink this far.

Hobie, mate you gotta be kidding, you dont catch these things off a toilet seat,Tell the people to get real. It still takes two as far as I am aware. Mind you when same sex becomes compulsary it may well take three, unsure of the gender of the three though. I still love single actions and lever actions, so maybe life is not that complicated after all Eh!!!

MY dad was a doctor many moons ago. He passed away back in '73. I can still remember one patient who still claimed she had never had "relations" with anyone. She said she swam into it in the ocean while at the beach.

There's actually a special on TV called "I didn't know I was pregnant"! I think they shoulda called it, "I shoulda done some of the icky stuff my husband wanted!"
