Watch Geese are better than dogs for putting up a racket. Them geese are just like my Ex MIL...no matter how far I dropped her off, she could find her way back to the house

Ok I was thinking something else.

Cool pic's. There are goose family's at all the ponds around here. The wife and kids get a kick out of seeing them. :D Geese have a wicked temper when it comes to the little ones dont know of many critters that will even mess with them.

Sixgun,

Those are really great photos.
I dont think anyone really knows for sure how
geese find their way.
Some people feel that the geese use their memory, combined with topography and also being helped by the stars and the sun.
Others feel that the geese have superior sensitivity to the earths magnetic field.
I personally have no idea but it is cool.
Anyway great pics and be careful of the Daddy Goose!!!!!

Nice pics.

A number of years back the family was on a camping trip and we had some Canadian's with six or so young'uns come by. Made the mistake of feeding them some bread. Had to finally run them off as they became so aggressive wanting more. Won't ever do that again.

Well not what I was hoping for but cute anyway! :D

The pair that hang out in the pond across the road from us had three this year.

Looks like our Bald Eagles had two this year. They were out hanging on the
wind Saturday when it was blowin' about 30 knots. I was so engrossed in watching them
glide I didn't even think about the camera. Beautiful!

I was thinking banties, honest I was!

Watch geese. Some folks have 'em. Too many and you'd rather have those investment benefits piled up right outside the back door. They leave "benefits" everywhere!

We had those Canadas in our ponds for several years, but we got tired of stepping in
"goose greenies" and finally ran 'em off. They are EVERWHERE around here, and way too many "peeps".
Sadly, I stopped shooting Honkers many years ago. Maybe I can restart that effort. :)

Years ago, I saw a bunch of goats in the road. I went up to the farm house to tell the guy his goats were out. As I rang the door bell, a large gaggle of geese surrounded the porch! Nobody was home. As I tried to leave, they attacked me all the way to my truck! I thought I was in a Hitchcock movie! There should be a leash law for geese!

Hey wait!?! Where's the Jack??? And how come it hasn't been passed around to this side of the fire???

True story...

When my late Dad served in England on a fighter base during WWII, he said many sensitive areas were protected by "watch geese". We used to think it was a cute story until the farm house next to the boat yard added some geese... We'd get up early in the AM to go out striper fishing, and if we weren't real quiet -- we'd wake 'em all up! -- and everyone else in the area too!!!

My grandmother had geese when I was young. My brothers and I were scared to death of them. That pinching bite hurts.

In the 27 years I've lived here the best guard dog I've ever had was a flock of geese.

We have tried geese a few times, its the same every time, wife gets beat up, geese end up in the oven.

The bill can pinch but the wing can make a ugly bruise as well.

have fun

Only problem with those "watch birds" is the debris - nothing poops as much as geese!

what you should do is get the eggs just before they hatch, and make sure that the goslings see you first as soon as they are born. Then they will follow you everywhere you go.
