What calibers for Reloder19?

Post by awp101 »

My local shop has a pound of Reloder19 IIRC. The Alliant website says it's for .270, .30-06, .338 and "most medium caliber cartridges" but I'm wondering what else it could be used for? 7.5 Swiss? .308? .303 Brit?

I suppose it would be a bad choice for .22H or .22-250?

For me it has worked very well in the 6mm and 270.

You could use it in just about anything where you'd use the various 4350's and 4831 powders. I've use it in my 338 Win and 270 Win. Has never been the best powder for accuracy, at least in my trials.

Excellent choice for the .348. It is best not to reduce starting charge weights. 1886.

Just regarding accuracy - 57.0 gr and a 130 gr have been one of my most accurate combos in the 270 and it has been good in a number of rifles. Velocity is about 3000 depending on the rifle. This is my standard load now in the 270 and I think I have tested most of the available powders.

I have found it to be a fair powder in .303 Brit but primarily with bullets over 200 grains!
