Replying without reading all the thread.
I have caught myself posting a reply before I read all the other replies to the thread. Sometimes it makes me feel a little foolish when I'm repeating a reply or it has already been completely answered or identified. Oh well, you've got to be able to laugh at yourself.

Yep... if the post replies start getting numerous, or get a bit windy (you know I never do that!), I've been known to skim them a wee bit too fast!

When I do that, it's because I don't notice there are more pages to read.

I do! sometimes it`s because my fingers are too slow and if it`s an active topic there will be several answers in before I get done pecking out my lines.

Replying without reading?
Who'd be crazy enough to...oh wait, I see it's already been answered....DOH!
I have more of a problem of replying without proofreading!

Directly correlated to the length of the replies. Definately.
And sometimes I do - on purpose - I just want to make my little point and move on - if it's been said, well then I'm 2nding the point. To do otherwise would be pointless wouldn't it?

We do these things for the same reason that BMW's and Volvo's speed past my house at 50 in a 25 mph speed zone. Everyone is multi-tasking and are in a rush to go either nowhere or are out to accomplish 3 times what our parents did.---------Gotta stop and smell the roses from time to time or in other words, take your time and read ALL the posts-----------------Sixgun

I would never think of doing such as that... Yeah, right!

I try and read all of the posts on the thread. If I dont have anything to add that would be different, I just click on. I dont claim perfection in this, but I try.

Re: Replying without reading all the thread.
Threads often ask a question or put forth a proposition - so, each members own reply doesn't necessarily require reading all the others. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Depends on the situation. For some it may be important that I read the rest and for some it doesn't matter.
For instance - I confess to liking the various safeties on guns - doesn;t matter to me if others don't, my answer in no way depends on there's.

Sometimes I'd even like to skip reading the 1st post... just replying to the subect line. Then there are those ocassions when I still miss the point, so it appear as tho' I did!
RR7, 'Sides I firmly believe in my self-justification in those instances when I do it: "I do not wish to be influenced by the mundane, tawdry, shallow or plebian comments others have made. (Must be read in a masculine voice version of Mrs. Bucket from the BBC series Keeping Up Appearances)" 'Tain't exactly original, so feel free to quote, ad lib or adapt as you wish... I suppose NOW would be a good time to see how far from her course this ship has drifted, or how many folks I've offended
