What caliber/bullet combo would be most appropriate?

That Orca looks pretty friendly to me right at the moment.

But if the chips were down my choice would be 50BMG!!

But that's not a lever, better get a new model Marlin 1895 in .45-70 with HEAVY cast bullets to get thru all that blubber.

My Marlin guide gun with heavy cast, flat nose bullets at around 1800+ fps

Wouldn't matter to me. I don't go swimming with all the sharp toothed critters in the ocean.

Modoc beat me to it - just there last year. Hadn't been for about 20 before that. Watch it though, there was a movie where an Orca burned down a town.

If he ceased to be in a freindly mood, whatever caliber you chose, a rate-of-fire in the triple-digit per minute range would suit me; or one well-placed "pineapple"..... grenade!

Gday,
Wish I owned one, but a Gatlin in 45/70, should do the trick. Dreams!

"Attacking orca - what bullet / caliber would be appropriate?"

Easy answer. I'd pull out my handy lever action trebuchet and a 300 pound stone. It works every time.
