EMF Hartford 1892 Levergun in .357

Post by Tamlin »

I picked up one of these recently in SS, with a 16" barrel. Sweet gun, and I finally got to take it out today. I don't like the sights that are on it - It shot high, and generally to the right, at every distance. I shot from 7 yards out to 30 yards. The farther out, the higher the shot hit. I played with the rear sight adjustment, but nothing helped. This has the gold bead on the front, and the crescent moon-looking rear with a small notch at the bottom. Has anyone else shot one of these and had a similar experience? Any other sights that will fit that you can recommend? Midway USA has an XS Cowboy Express sight set for $89 that is supposed to fit Winchester and Marlin leverguns - anybody tried this one? It has a large white dot and a v-notch, which I'm thinking will be easier on the eyes. I wouldn't mind getting a Williams peep set, but I think I'd have to drill and tap for it - which I'd like to avoid, if possible.

Thanks for your help.

Howdy and welcome to the fire. The EMF 92 is made for them by Rossi. Those sights are standard for all of the EMF round barrel carbines in all the calibers. The problem is the 16" guns need a taller front. you can change to a taller front or a lower rear. The dovetails in the barrel are sometime slightly over size though so standard 3/8" sight fall through.
Try the XS set and if it doesn't work contact me. I have some option that will work.

And yes, you will need to D&T for the Williams.

Thanks for the info - I will definitely give you a call if those XS sights don't work.
