Well - I am back to the real world today after being gone from home for 1 week, hunting the Pennsylvania whitetail. I spent 2 days hunting with my father on a farm that is always productive and easy hunting for my 67 year old father. Monday 12/1 was successful, we both shot a nice healthly doe, a buddy of ours also got a nice doe.
picture is of my Dad - his was shot with his Remington 760 30-06. Shot was a typical lung shot and reaction. Bullets were Remington core-lok 180gr. factory loads.
My deer was with my 1905 Winchester 1894 30-30 with a Lyman tang on it. Distance was 50 or so yards. Bullet was 170gr. Hornady FP powered by CCI primers and H322 powder.
From Wed. forward I was hunting with a gang of guys from our hunting camp in Centre County - driving mountain land in/around Bald Eagle state forest. I did not getting any shooting at buck, but did see a fair number of doe and smaller bucks in the mountain. We had a successful week and I am already looking forward to it next year.

Very nice post. My dad and I have never hunted together. He just doesn't hunt. I have not really been in the woods with my brother. We will have to do that someday. We did shoot and make meat together in Texas, that was the first time. Not quite the same as hunting in your own environment. I like your choice of rifle too.

Well done you guys, looks wet for you.
Wow another 30/30 guy using H322, thought I was the only one here. Tell me how does it shoot group wise?
Good pictures

The old girl shoots pretty good for being 103 years old. With the tang sight, I only like shooting up to about 100 yards and off the bench with that powder - she'll do about 3" with the open sights, which I think is fine for a hunting rifle.
