Cool... I guess he needs to remember that they do RUN sometimes even after a lethal hit. He was probably just wanting to make SURE it didn't just run off wounded. That was what I dreaded (and still do) the first time I hunted.

Congrats!! Shot my first turkey 4 times..... Dad and my mentor joked about this forever.... that was 1979 and I think Dad even laughed about it shortly before he died.

Congratulations!! He sounds like a good shot if he hit it five times. Does he remember each shot or was he on auto pilot? Sounds like a bit of buck fever, but that is normal.
Happiness is a comfortable stump on a sunny south facing mountain.
