I will certainly pray for this boy's family. What a senseless tragedy. My only question is this. What in the world was an 8 yr old doing firing an Uzi? Very light SMGs have control issues, even when fired by adults. I am a loss to figure this one out. Very, very sad. :( :(

What a horrible, horrible thing to happen. Prayers are up. Let us all be reminded of the responsibilities we have as good responsible gun owners and shooters. Let us not let his death be in vane. I will double my efforts in gun safety. I have a new grandson I am just getting started into this great sport and way of life.

Three prayers:

The most important - for the family. They have to endure the endless guilt and "what-if's" from an accident born of a temporary lack of judgement. It could happen to any of us, with any technology, any time. God please help them to heal as much as they can; such a thing can rip one's heart and soul out, and tear a family apart.

Secondly - for the kid. Secondly, because he's in good hands, but importantly, because he surely could have accomplished alot in the several decades he had ahead to live.

Thirdly - for the rest of us. The unscrupulous, sensationalist, and shallow mainstream media will descend on this family and feed their guilt, using this boy's accident and family tragedy to promote the left's anti-gun agenda.

Prayers offered for all involved, and total agreement with Mike's comment. (Last night WBZ, a Boston radio station, was
conducting a phone-in survey asking, "Do you believe a law should be passed placing a minimum age on the firing of a weapon..." Being Massachusetts, there's a good chance it will happen.

+1 in that order as well.

I got this via e-mail yesterday. The rabid anti's are already using this. Expect situations like this to lead to horrendous gun-control laws, under a Dem Congress and President "Unqualified", in the name of "the children".

When I let my son shoot an MP5 last year (at 9), the gentleman who owned the weapon loaded three rounds at a time until he was satisfied that my son could handle it. We both hovered very close as well, to grab the gun if it started to climb or he lost muzzle control in any way. He never did - which is part of safety training. The poor father needs to be watched closely - I know I would be suicidal if in his situation... :(

Very sad. A deep sigh, a slow shake of the head, and a prayer up.
