They also hired my staff at the same salary I was paying them.

I feel really good about this.

The reason this was so difficult was that we have a conflict that the state bar rules required me to withdraw from a particular case. If I had a conflict, my whole firm had the same conflict.

I consulted with three outside lawyers, including one who works for the State Bar and they were all in agreement about the conflict.

But there was disagreement within the Partners and I couldn’t get it reconciled.

Leaving behind my ownership interest was a very difficult decision to make. But I am at peace with it.
