Re: What Is That ONE Firearm.....??
The one I could never part with is one I don't yet have, and am not looking forward to the day I will inherit it. It is a Winchester semi-auto .22, I think a model 64---but I am not quite sure, that I learned to shoot on. It has a load through the side of the stock magazine, with the follower being pulled from the end of the rifle butt. It has a 1 piece stock, and it hits anything you point it at. We used to scavenge golf balls from the empty field across from our house where people went to practice their golf game for no charge, and take them to my Grandmother's farm. We would get out in a pasture where there weren't any houses for 5 miles in the direction we were shooting, and throw the golf balls as far as we could. We then shot at them until we couldn't see them any more. I don't remember missing many, and I don't remember my Dad or Uncle ever missing. When I finally do get that rifle, it will stay with me until I pass it on to one of my two children.
