My grandfather kept only two guns for several years of his life. He deer hunted and quail hunted, with the occasional squirrel, or varmit. His choices were a 12ga Browning A5 shotgun with one of those old Cutts Compensator chokes on it. He hunted everything with a wide open spreader choke in it.
His other rifle was a Winchester model 100 semi auto in .308 Winchester. In the 1960's, 70's and 80's this was pretty much all he used, except he later bought a TC Hawken for the then new Muzzleloading seasons.
Even though I love side by sides, I recond my choice in a shotgun would be pretty much the same as my grandfathers, and I would keep my Browning A5 but with at least an extra rifle sighted slug barrel.
The second gun would be a tough choice, as I would not want to give up my Browning BLR in .308 win, but that would not leave me with a .22 or a handgun of anykind.
Now that the silliness of the 4 gun thread has passed.....

Re: Now that the silliness of the 4 gun thread has passed.....
I didn't start this thread with the thought that all the sudden we'd have to give up all of our guns due to law. Most of us will never have to get down to 2 due to financial reasons and hope I never do. It was to be more of a fun thread and also give some insight into what others believe and their reasons for their picks. More of a "see, this is what I like" and part "boy, I missed that, that's a great idea" thread.
I also thought, and this has been pointed out by others in this thread, that getting to 4 guns is pretty easy, 2 though is a real big pain in the butt especially if you include a CC gun in your choices. I didn't.
