My first in 1961 was a Winchester Rifle .30WCF from 1902. The barrel had been shortened to 20", and it was reblued. Price was $35 and a Bear recurve bow. The second was a 1975 Winchester 30-30, in '75. It cost $100. in the last ten years 3 Rossi's in .45 Colt, and .357 mag. One Henry .22, and one Marlin 45-70. This year I hope to add more.
We'll be remembered for what we've done, not what we have.

When Winnie closed shop last year, I called them up and asked them to ship me a Mod. 94 Youth (Ranger Compact) in .357 Mag. for my son Ryan. He is 7 years old, and on his 12th B-day, he is getting a NIB .357 Mag Mod. 94. This is important to me as I have many leverguns, but nothing beats your very first gun, especially if it's a 94!
June 5th 2012, don't be looking for me, I've got a date with Ryan and a little Winchester, it's gonna be a Kodak moment for us all!

After the obligitory Daisy Red Ryder, I took to my little Marlin 39A Mountie, like a duck to water, next came a couple of Marlin and Glendfield 30-30's a winny 94 a couple of different model winny .22's and then got my first BLR in .270, loved it, I did part with it under less that happy circumstances (helped pay for my divorce), but it made a very good impression.
Now the love of my life is my little BLR in .308. She is a pretty little thing! A buddy of mine has a little short 30-30 Marlin Glenfield that I think he is finally going to sell me, but I won't tell my Browning about her. My little BLR seems to get a little jealous, and I don't want to start trouble and ruin our domestic bliss.

First and last leverguns
Back before I got married in 1988, my wife to be knew a guy that she worked with that had a Marlin model 444. He and I took it to the range and fired it and I was hooked!!!!!! She bought it for me for Christmas 1987 and I still have it. Back then, we lived in upstate NY and could only hunt deer with shotguns, but I never got bored shooting it at the range. She paid the hefty sum of $200 for it. When winchester announced they were closing the '94 plant, I ran out and bought the first mod 94 I could get my hands on. As I got to the register (after all the government paperwork) the manager came over to say hello and checked out the rifle I just bought. Seems he didn't do his research when he put the pricwetag on it because it was a 1954 in mint condition. Got it for $200. Pre '64's are going for alot more now.
It gets better though, as this year a buddy called and asked if I would be interested in another Levergun, a 336 in .35 rem witha 2x scope mounted. I met him and after checking out the rifle promptly asked what he needed to get for it. His answer...$200. Paid him on the spot.
I have hunted with and still own plenty of other guns, but the lever is definitely my favorite!!!!!!!

My first two levers were bb guns something I wouldn't buy anyone. My third was a winchester 94 in 30-30 which I sold and my next 7 were: model 94 30-30 with 24 inch barrel, winchester model 92 in 32-20 with 24 inch barrel, next was a winchester big bore that needed rebuilding so I put a 26 inch octagon barrel on it, winchester bb almost new never changed, a winchester model 94 with 26 inch octagon made in 1910, a winchester 94 in 30-30 made in 1917 with a 20 inch barrel that has been parkerized , a winchester model 92 being built into a 256 winchester mag with a 24 or 26 barrel not sure which yet and a winchester model 1886 in extra lite.
I am still looking for more 86's and big bore's and maybe a few more 30-30's. I have bolt actions but the levers are becoming more fun as I get older.
