What's your favorite big game capable walking gun?

Usually this:

or lately this:

Depends.
If I'm just walking through the woods I really want my hands free.

That's a intresting forestock did you make it or did you have that done by a stock maker?

The thinning looks like it would make it fit my hand better.

Big game capable rifle?

Here in Ohio, the biggest danger excluding a hostile erect biped, are Black Bear (very rare), ferrarl hog / wild boar and coyote / wild dogs.

So my 336 / 1894C would be plenty for all comers. If in a big bear area (like Alaska), then my 12 ga. shotgun stoked with Brenneke slugs will have to do.

The handiest rifle that I ever carried afield was a single shot break action Savage in 30-30.
That was a long time ago when there weren't many caliber options.
Nowadays I would choose an H&R handy Rifle in some capable caliber such as 30-06.

I will, after todays outing in the woods have to respond in two ways:

For hunting, it will be my 12 bore paradox cape gun. I can take small game and large game and it has a built in sling in the butt stock that rolls out when needed and hooks to the barrel stud. I am in LOVE with this 12 bore!!

For just walking in the woods, I carry a pistol, usually a .357 either a bond derringer, or my 60-3. It could be my Colt SAA in .44 special or the Freedom Arms in .475 Linebaugh.
