Wow, 3 pages... And no Hammond Organ players??? Something is wrong with the world...

Here's some pix of a "Baby B3" (actually a 1957 vintage M3 Model) that I rebuilt (made just a "little more portable") to take on tour in the early 80's, along with a classic Leslie 145 rotating speaker system...

Gotta luva Hammond!
M3 Front view.JPG
Deep base from those pedals too!
M3 Pedals view.JPG
And a classic speaker, for the classic Hammond sound -- thanks to the TUBE amp!
Leslie 145 Angle view.JPG
Man, those were both very heavy loads -- my back is aching just thinking about carrying those around... Up/down stairs, etc. And I also toured with a Mini-Moog synthesizer, Crumar String Machine and PA system for all the keys and vocals too.

As I used to say to all the girls on tour... (Thanks to the band Boston, for this inspiration from their first album): I'll play "Foreplay" on my organ in a "Rock & Roll Band" for a "Long Time" until I get "More Than A Feeling" of "Something About You" and I'll be "Smokin" and want to "Hitch a Ride" and the only way to get some "Peace of Mind" will be for you to "Let Me Take You Home Tonight"!!! :D

Would you believe I actually saved money (and my back) by getting into collecting & shooting guns instead?!?! And it was those days and nights in the bands which hurt my hearing more than all the shooting I've ever done...

Back in the day I also played the trumpet, flugel horn, piano, church organ and anything else with keys.

Cool post -- thanks for the memories!

Ukuleles just have a real low "cool factor". Kinda like when you get older and start dressing exclusively for comfort.

As for accordians, do you know the difference between an accordian and an onion?

Madman 45-70,
I do not think even Hobie could control such an unruly bunch,
I like your idea for a finale.

I just got my first uke and brought it to work. And I learned that chicks dig ukuleles.

Actually they're very romantic if you play the right songs. You can sit really close to her and play, and you're not hitting her in the back of the head with your guitar neck.

Yeah, but a radio leaves both arms free for squeezin!

I saw a cute bumper sticker the other day; It said, "Kiss a musician, 'cause they never get to dance!"

Maybe to ignorant rednecks who's only exposure to the 'ukulele is a no talent haole like Tiny Tim, and who likes to talk about vaginas on gun forums to makes themselves feel manly, and who really owns guns to make up for feelings of their own inadequacies, maybe.

What instrument do you play, the kazoo?

Dang, touchy, touchy, touchy! Normally, you don't get all cranky like this, or I wouldn't have made the joke! As for inadequacies, a guy's probably got some lumber swingin', to walk around with such a tiny "instrument"!

As for the "haole" thing, that'd be about like me moving 20 miles south of Laredo, then griping about the "gringos" the next day!

any instrument is cool when you can PLAY IT.

Check out this guy on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81YZdHPpBlc

It came up on a search because I was checking into his ukulele made of cherry. Martin, limited edition, $1500.00

By the way, Martin makes a "high grade" uke for $5,000. I see others listed, with rare wood, for $7,000.

By the way Ganj I am working on a rag for the uke if you're interested.

Of my many blessings from God, musical talent of any kind is not one of them. I have no ability to play an instrument at all. I can barely keep time or rhythm, can't dance, and couldn't carry a tune if you hit me over the head with it and then strapped it to my back.

The CIA did approach me a few years back about helping out in Gitmo. Apparently my wife had tired of hearing me attempt to sing in the shower and realized listening to me might be more effective in obtaining intelligence from captives than waterboarding them.

The CIA refused in the end, feeling sure it would be considered inhumane torture to expose anyone to my singing.

I love Gibsons!!! Man you got everything there. I had a 1956 colorburst Fender Strat that my wife talked me into getting rid of.Wish I hadnt. When they pulled the neck to verify I felt faint after I saw the pencil writing. The guys at the shop were blown away.

I almost have her talked into letting me get a PRS though.
Thank you Madman!!
I'd of kept the 56 and traded in the wife. I've got 26-27 guitars, my main one is a PRS Custom 24, you'll love it if you get one. ALL the gear in the pics is mine. My band likes to practice at my house cause noone has to bring anything, I already have the drums, bass gear, PA, recording, etc. You gearheads can see more of my gear at www.fossiltheband.com (an old band site) or on MySpace under "Davey Utah"

I'd love to get a Gibson LP, anyone of their models. I've got a Fender tele and a Takamine acoustic, but no Gibson. Well, maybe some day. Nice Collection, draperjojo, both of them.

Joke my @$$, it was a attack and you know it, you have deep emotional issues and the only way for you to feel good about himself is by trying to demean others. Who made you Levergun's king of cool, and the machismo police? You are the least qualified for that job from what you have shown us lately. I bet you're the president of your own fan club, a legend in your own mind. You don't have the coordination or talent to play any instrument so you play the radio, we all know why you want your hands free. Seems the only instrument you know how to play is yourself. :o
You're totally ignorant about the ukulele, it's history, and the instrument itself. I could teach you if you want but I get the feeling you'd rather remain ignorant. If you're so totally clueless on a subject why even open your mouth? You don't even know what the word haole means (ignorance again) so your comments above make no sense but it does continue to reveal the depth of your ignorance and immaturity, so go on and continue to wallow in it like a swine, I'm sure you're gaining loyal members into your exclusive fan club with every word that squirts forth from your foul mouth.
We don't want to hear about your "tiny instrument" so go crawl back under your rock macho man. Image

Hobie I hope you can weed out the Neanderthals like Tracy here but until then I'm out of here, I have better things to do than listen to BS from clueless idiots, I've been getting enough of that in the real world the past 3 years. Every Texan I have ever met have been the nicest of people which I have the deepest respect for so I'm guessing that Tracy here is a pseudo-Texan a transplanted New Jersey Texan wannabe.
