I wrote an article for the Cast Bullet Association publication "The Fouling Shot" a couple years ago about my Model 92 Marlin I didn't have the 1892 yet ! And the whole article was leading up to me killing a couple squills !S.B. wrote:"Well lets see I have a Marlin 1892 in 32 caliber and a Marlin 92 in 32 caliber these shoot either 32 Long Colt or 32 rimfire depending on the firing pin I have in them . One was made in 1900 and the other about 1916 ."
Do you actually take these collector rifles into the damp woods to hunt with them or is this just your way of telling us what you own?
Steve
Later that year I wrote another article about working up cast bullet loads in my 218 , 25-20 , 32-20 , 357 and the model 92 .
I also wrote an article three years ago for the same publication about killing a deer with my 1906 vintage Marlin 1893 in 32-40 and have an article awaiting publication about hunting with my pre 1900 Marlin 1895's in 40-65 and 38-56 as well as a 1912 vintage 1895 in 33 WCF !
So to answer your question yes I do hunt and shoot what I own !
I have a friend who is lending me a nice old Remington Hepburn in 40-70 SS this coming season to knock over a deer or two !
And back to the squirrel thing , I have an original halfstock Kentucky rifle that was made by A.B. Smith about 1840-1850 in 36 caliber that I plan on taking a squirrel or two with this coming year . I've actually had this old rifle for well over 30 years and have never fired it ! A.B.Smith was a gunmaker in western PA from about 1825 until maybe 1860 I think .
