Sometimes people are disappointed is because they are short sighted. The goal is not to gain a Pyrrhic victory in a single battle it is to win the war. To lower one's head and blindly charge forward charge after charge is sometimes self defeating. The boxer who comes out of his corner one haymaker after another is not assured a win. Quite often the contrary. The goal is to not lose the battle. George Washington knew it. Frederick the Great knew it. Chou En-Lai knew it. Ho Chi Minh knew it. Pickett and Lee did not know it.
