Where did all our petroleum come from…?

.
‘Abiogenic hydrocarbons’ may be a huge source…

I’d heard this before.

But it doesn’t fit the ‘climate’ agenda. :|

Long ago I learned of this. What's most interesting is that it seems to be self replenishing. There are distinct chemical differences between abiogenic and biogenic hydrocarbons. It's pretty much the only explanation for very deep oil deposits.

Saw today that fossilized grapes were found in the same layers as dino bones.
Who'da thunk dinosaurs were drinking wine!

Just think how many gun safes I would need if I struck oil on my farm...

Actually, we are sitting on a pretty good shale oil deposit, but oil royalties aren't worth much in this part of the world.

The "biogenic" petro may be abiogenic petro that wound up killing lots of animals. Like labrea. A genious puts 3 and 7 together and declares that the dinos created the petro.

Put that way the entire "oil comes from dead animals" rap sounds uber stupid.

Like, you know, WHY WOULD IT ?

Carbon and Hydrogen are extremely abundent. Put them together under heat and pressure in an anOxic environment, and they combine to form methane, ethane, propane, butane, pentane, hexane, octane, nonane, decane, dodecane, and on dowh the list. Iso-enantiomers also. The amount of oil is more than the tonnage of dinnysours ever could have been.

I've never heard this question discussed. Does oil and coal have any other use than by man.
Does the earth use oil and coal for any purpose?

First, biotic oil is just dead critters. It is also the plant life. But still the oil mass, as calculated by some genius using some esoteric method (WAG, not even a SWAG) is supposed to be greater that the biomass

Also, the depth of abiotic oil seems to preclude its formation from biomass.

But since folks seem to be interested in hydrocarbon and combustion here’s a tidbit.
Genius’s will tell you that the water we have is all that ever was or ever will be. But every time you burn hydrocarbons one of the products is “water”.

Others say that the mass of the earth has never changed, and that the mass of any given element will never change forget that our planets mass increase with every meteor that enters out atmosphere (even if it burns up) and that these days we frequently shoot rockets off this planet.

Just don’t tell high school science teachers this. They will take offense and retaliate.
