The 'liberalism' of today is nothing like the 'classical liberal', as David Rubin has clarified, but is currently defined not by anything remotely 'liberal' such as freedom of ideas or individual liberty, but rather by a short-sighted, self-centered, group-think, which advocates the use of censorship, fraud, and violence to attain political power.

I saw firsthand Trump Derangement Syndrome, and realize it was a real thing, but it is just a subset of the broader phenomenon of 'neoliberalism' which is endemic among young people, particularly in the sheltered world of academia, and among the trust-fund babies who are insulated from reality.

I think part of it is that they are in a constant state of Cognitive Dissonance, in that there is simply no way to reconcile the ideas of Marxism (which they relabel 'democratic socialism') with the real world, as seen through science or history. That is one reason the 'liberals' of today appear to not only refuse to do economics, but even basic math, and they refuse to do not only science, but basic logic, and when it comes to history, they simply re-write it, burn books, and tear down statues. (Then they accuse the 'conservatives' of doing those things, simply because we don't want 9 year olds reading graphic details, with illustrations, about transgender teenagers having sex in school bathrooms as if it is a 'normal' activity.)

They also have an ends-justify-the-means mindset that on the one hand allows circumvention of rules, thus the willingness to use lies and violence and cheating, but they pretend to have the moral high-ground, which deep down they have to know is inconsistent.

So no wonder 'liberals' are crazy.
