I went to school with a guy who had been run over by a tractor trailer as a kid, paralyzed from the waist down. Under his wheelchair seat he kept a Gurka knife and he always packed some sort of pistol.
Good for that man, hope he never needs to use it but I'm sure he is more than capable.

I stupidly sold my brand new Highway Patrolman before it became world famous. dum dum.

However my 4" Model 66 shoots great, and has made venison a few times, so I can relate to the Model 28.
I sure would like to see what you guys could do with it ! ! !

I do love the big Smith revolvers.

I have a brand new Smith & Wesson 520 which I think should have been the ideal duty gun. N frame with fixed sights in .357.

I bought a 28 when in my early 20's and sold it to a Friend in my 40's. I paid 240. for it and sold it to him for about the same. It was a GOOD shooter but 357's always bothered my ears more than a 45 or 44 special so it was a safe queen.

I’ve always shot lots of .38 ammo and relatively little .357 Magnum through my revolvers.

I still think that’s a pretty good idea.

He's definitely an authority on bears! I used to pack a 357 with 180gr fn, 6" Mid 19, but it got too heavy in my old age. Now I've always got a 45acp with 255gr Hardcast by Buffalo Bore or Underwood. I don't really worry about Blackbears, but I'm around them all time, and have had several Mom&Cub encounters that get kinda iffy, once very IFFY! But I'm in woods 3-4 times a week, In mountains and I see em most trips. Was within about 25yds of one Monday. And few weeks back, 10 yds before I knew he was there. Once I was leaned again a big oak, heard one breathing on other side tree before I knew what it was. I leaned out, and dropped the barrel of a 16ga SS, the barrel was 2ft from his face. Like too scared that bear to death, I was squirrel hunting. Last fall had a cub climbing the tree I was in, deer hunting, he was sniffing where I'd went up. Mom was at the base. Bunch more similar to these, so I don't go in woods without my 45, but i doubt I'll ever have to use it! Wish we had as many deer as bears!

Now that I don't carry for work I am packing a revolver a lot more. .357 Mag with .38s or a .44 mag with specials often, unless I am going to town.

Hey Fellers, I was just sitting here in my recliner listening to the rain and reading the comments. I'll be 79 in a couple of months and reached in the side of my recliner where my old 66 lives unless it's in my pocket where it lives during the day, would feel undressed with out it. As far as loads go I've used Skeeter's old recipe of 11gr of 2400 and a hard cast flat base SWC in a 38 special case, if I need more than it will do I keep a bigger rig in the truck or corner of the tractor cab. Figure if I make it to 89 I'll still be carrying it... John
