Found a Marlin 336 Beauty

Post by Mossyoak1957 »

Brought the home last Saturday.
Marlin 336 30-30 made in 1976
Outstanding cond. for a 48 year old.
Bore is spotless, screw heads untouched, walnut is all but perfect, any moving parts have no bluing worn off, internals are spotless no wear, hasn't been drilled for a sling stud and I'm not drilling it for one. Only thing missing is the front sight hood, have one on the way.
I'm at the age now were it's not going to be a safe queen this will be in the Deer/Bear woods in PA next season.

Awesome! Congrats on that, I'm glad to see some of the "old" calibers continuing to work hard.

Yes you did! I have a 1977 made, bought new by an old coworker, which I bought from him in 81. He killed ? can't remember, at least one but I think a couple of these KY Mountain deer, and me several with it since. In fact, it's only rifle I've ever owned, that I can honestly say, that for me it's killed with easy recovery, usually in its tracks, and ? I think?, the original buyer, everything the trigger was pulled on!
And maybe I'm just prejudice, but I consider the 70's jm Marlins, the cream of the crop! Regardless that, congratulations on a fine hunting rifle , cartridge!

Very nice Mossyoak. That one is worth more than a new one in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly I'd take this over a new one any day.
