How many of you miss the old Marlin print ads?

I always liked Marlin’s print advertising.

One of my favorite is the bear meeting a man on a horse on a narrow ledge ! What a kluster that would be!

Thanks everyone for sharing. I love those old ads. I had a Ruger New Model Single Six ad framed on my wall when my house burnt. I don't have anything cool currently, but that Winchester ad with the bear on a ledge, that one is very good. I like the old Marlin and Winchester and Remingtons too!

I have read that in some cases, several gun companies used the same ad pictures but doctored them a bit to make them fit their products.

A gunshop in downtown San Jose, CA in the early 60's my dad took me to to get some ammo had this sign on the back wall. I always thought the levergun depicted (a '73) was cool looking even as a early teen.

I have stacks of those old ads, plus a large number of original marketing layouts that the ads were made from. Most of the marketing layouts I have are on hard board with thin semitransparent sheets over them so notes or changes could be written or drawn on the cover sheet prior to finalizing the ads.
Not sure why I still have these, as they're old, but newer than I collect. Most were given to me by Bill Brophy at one of the Marlin Collectors meetings. I tried to sell them cheap a few years back, but got far more lookers than takers.

Ruger is a good company, but I seriously doubt they'd care about older Marlin advertising history.

Back in the '70s I thought the Savage Model 99 ads with Iron Eyes Cody and Jay Silverheels were the best!
