Some Tisas 1911's recalled

I picked up a Tisas about a year and a half ago. Got it from Classic Firearms, and couldn't resist the deal. Absolutely love it. It has worked flawlessly since I've owned it. Only issue I ran into was magazine related (not the factory ones, but some Chip McCormick ones that all experienced spring failure at the same time). I got some new Wilson Combat mags, and found out they did not insert reliably. Turned out it was a known issue with the mag release. Replaced the factory one with a Wilson Combat "bullet-proof" one, and presto - perfect function again.

Anyway, my model is not impacted by the recall. Wanted to let you all know though, as I think some others here have purchased these given the outstanding price point.

I have a consecutive pair of the early 1911A1s that don't seem to be on the list. Mine have been great shooter with no issues.

Always sorry to hear of a recall. The Tisas 1911s I have handled and shot have seemed very well machined and tight.

The1911 I have is in the cue for machine work. Something that is on the drawings that was not done originally. Even though it is clearly on the drawings. There for a purpose. Avoided for cost-control I suppose. If I look at it as a flathead engine and watch the wear points, then the improvements are beneficial.

The middle photo shows the damage of the lower lugs, the feet, hitting the impact area. The machined area is what it is supposed to look like. Online discussions say that the damage of the lower drawing can break the pin or the feet, and other things.

Tisas just came out with their version of the Springfield Prodigy. I will probably give it a whirl. I have a Sig P320, but other than that, just don't like striker-fired pistols.

Agreed. I got mine on a super-sale, and it was well less than 4 c-notes!



I replaced the grips with g-10 ones in a black and blue (pro LEO) pattern, and added the Pearce finger-groove under-grip set. Even with the o-light, and a holster, I'm still well under a base model for most other makes. But as these get more popular I expect the prices to go up. They have a ton of different options/configurations for the 1911, and they know how to make them right.
