Finally going to complete my .327 Ruger

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

I’ve been shooting this gun for a while but the original front sight was way too tall. Now I have it filed perfectly and I sent it back to Fermin Garza for a replacement that is the correct height and with a recessed gold bead.

that was my hunting sight, smaller bead on a longer barrel. I used to tell people who shot it "the bead is the bullet", "the bullet goes where the bead is" every time!! LOL

I’m afraid that I’m still experimenting. But I think an LBT LFN GC at around 100 grains is going to part of the recipe

I’m sure I can get better photos in better light. But these are really friendly to my eyes. A hair thinner than the factory blades and that bead really catches the eye without being overwhelming. Still a sharply defined top of the blade for elevation control.

Delivery was fast too. Just over a week from when I called him.

I was able to finally find some 100 grain Hornady XTP bullets. As soon as they arrive I’ll start loading.

Really slick looking sight. I've always liked a gold bead on my revolvers.

I was obsessed with my .327 when i first got it, then the ADD kicked in and got involved with some else. I'll have to get back to the .327, do enjoy shooting it. I did try several brands and weights but settled on the 100 XTPs as well.
Going to check out those front sights after i get it back out to the range. I should have some notes on my loads, but can't seem to find them.

I’m imagining 100 gr cast or jacketed bullets at 1200 to 1300 fps might be a comfortable place to be. I can get there with a variety of powders according to my Hornady manual.

When he's sitting at home and pulls a gun out of his safe, my shooting partner strokes and pets his guns. I don't do that, nope I don't....not me.

I load the .327 with 115 grain flat points meant for the .32-20. H110 and they are accurate and fun.

I took delivery of a few hundred 115 gr Keith style bullets that Buffalo Bore loads and a few hundred 100 gr XTP bullets.

Let the experiments begin!

The federal factory loads are hotter than a wood stove!

85 gr factory load clocks right at 1500 fps!
