I know I recently owned up to buying a Rossi but that was some years ago and I sold it soon after.

I just watched a UK video on a gun grab that's happening in the UK at the moment, the police are revoking record numbers of firearm and shotgun certificate's all over the country, if I hadn't voluntarily surrendered my guns they made it plain they would take them and my license as I was in breach of their security regulations, I could have got round it but circumstances were stacked against me. At least I'm good to go to buy more just got to get a safe installed in the gun free zone I've found myself living in..

My ex gf who only owns one shotgun has been waiting over a year for her license renewal but as received two temporary licenses In between which doesn't make any sense

Without a working constitution and a right to bear arms we are at the mercy of politicians and the police....the majority of people are happy with this

Yes. That does seem quite ridiculous. Of course, we have our share of that too.
We are lucky to have a thin line of defense as far as our rights go. But it seems to get thinner by the day.

Everyone wants to restrict freedom all over the world.
I have a feeling that the police are stalling on my ex's licence just because her only gun is a pump action and they maybe waiting for the government to ban them or restrict them even more in some way, that was mentioned a while ago.
The police also check social media for any clues about your personality, some guys have had their guns confiscated just because they are going through a divorce.
It makes me wonder what " they " have got planned for us all as being able to resist whatever it is is a no no. Happily for the authorities the sheeple don't seem to care.
Anyway if it all goes tits up I will open a shop selling pointed sticks...

I have seen a 16 gauge advertised locally but it sounds too cheap and is only listed as side by side Spanish no photo, I might check it out but I doubt it will have what I'm looking for.
They also have a single 20 gauge in rough condition ( melted recoil pad ) for £25.00 might make a project gun to save me from going mad here...

Just in case we are being scrutinized here ... I like native Americans, I have only spoken to Apaches and Navajos but they were fine people.

A project sounds like it would be good for you buddy. Just too bad it ain't a 16.
It's funny, I complain about 20ga all the time, but I've probably killed more game with one than any other gage. However, there's been a lot lost or out of range too. More than would be with a 16 for sure. I'm not convinced of the 12s ability over 16 either.

Yup I've killed a heap of stuff with a 20 gauge including Canada geese and Foxes, the 12 gauge was my go to gun until I discovered the 16 gauge. I dropped down to a single shot Winchester 20 gauge when I was gamekeeping because I was carrying it all day and it also got thrown in the back of the Landrover a lot. I found the 20 to kill as well as the 12 most of the time and of course for the last 62 years a .410 has always been in my modest armory too.

Just had an email about the 16 it's a sidelock with excellent barrels and has had little use BUT its only $190.00

so is it a bargain or junk

It is for sale about 20 miles from me so I will take a look.

I had a few hours this afternoon so I hauled the trail bike to camp. I left from there and rode a little 40 mile loop. Went through some country I hadn't been through in a while.

Some days aren't too bad.

I came rolling through Brighton (a crossroad with a few shacks and an old church) on my way back to camp and passed my old buddy Ronnie. He was riding a few back roads, so I turned around and went back and shot the bull with him for a while.
This guy is quite the character. Wicked hick. Combat marine who shot on the marine corps rifle team with Hatchcock's son back in the 80s. He works with me at work, but on weekend days.

On the plus side, I got some of my buddies moose ammo loaded.
I finished the .270s last week. Did the .308 today and got a trial of 45-70 ready to go.

I ran up to camp and worked on some trails today. It was cool and beautiful today, but I still sweat my hind end off. Had three trees to cut and some other saw work. Plus, it was a lot of walking.

I took a look at the 16 gauge it's nice but not really what I'm looking for so the search goes on . Hell of a journey the roads were choked with holiday traffic and diversion signs my sat nav had a nervous breakdown and took me straight to a pub, must be some sort of emergency procedure....

My sat nav is a Garmin not sure what model, I've had for a few years and it needs updating as some highways have drastically changed. The problem I have with it is that it always takes the shortest route which is sometimes not the fastest.

The gun shop was well stocked with high end guns and a little bit uppity but helpful, it was tucked away on a farm way out of town.

Yes very popular with the Africa and India hunters from all over the world when I worked for Westley Richards even the Zoo in Hampshire had at least one.
There was a gunsmith (Alf Jones) at Westley's that worked full time on building big game rifles both bolt action and side by sides.

Last night. It's dragging already.
Gonna try and get up to the range and shoot a trial load out of my buddy's 1886 tomorrow. I was gonna do it Friday morning, but just didn't have it in me after Thursday. I have all his .308s and .270s loaded. Just have to get this 45-70 done. Hopefully this week.

Working nightshifts is a drag all right I spent 8 years doing alternative days/nights at British Leyland, got fed up and found the gamekeeping job. Went from 40 hours to 80 hours a week but enjoyed it a lot more .

I hope your buddy has good luck on his hunting trip, keep us informed

Yeah. In 35 and a half years, I've NEVER worked day shift. Probably be lucky to live to retirement. However, on days Ida Probably killed somebody and spent my life in prison, so.....
I will bud. My buddy is usually pretty lucky. He wants his dad to shoot the moose with that old 1886. His dad is 77 or 78, and a friggen machine. The guy never stops and could probably work me under the table. Quite a guy.
Many years ago, he gave me his father's 1892 SRC in 44-40 to get sorted out. He wanted to shoot a deer with his dad's carbine. I got a good load for it all set up and had it singing pretty well that fall. He popped a nice 8 pointer with it. I was really happy for him. Hope to duplicate it this year. Good people. The best.

I ran up to the range this morning and shot that 86. It shot a 1 inch group at 50 yards right to an inch over point of aim. It was right in at 100 yards. Just about perfect......other than being a little slower than I'd like. That being said, I will most likely leave it. I'm just not comfortable stoking that rifle up too much. It's a nice rifle, and it ain't mine. I'm thinking they are going to have to live with it.

After I got home I cranked up the Harley and rode up to Stratton. Beautiful riding. Late summer is the best time to ride.

Sounds like you did a good job on the .45/70 glad I ain't a Moose...
I reckon I would have a problem around here on two wheels, the country roads are so narrow, winding and up and down you'd have a job staying in top gear and the main highways are full of traffic in the summer. It was a bikers paradise where I was living.........except for the traffic cops...

I don't know as anything would keep me from riding in some capacity. I have just loved bikes since I was a young boy. I went out to put my bike in the garage last night and was gone for half an hour.

I have tried a couple of times to carry a small fixed blade every day, but can't seem to commit. I have a Buck Pak Lite skinner and caper. I carry them in a custom kydex sheath instead of the original nylon ones. I did carry them when on our month long trip to Alaska back in 2019. I think because I didn't have a pistol or anything on my belt.
So, I daily carry a folder when in my "normal operations".
For the last decade I have been carrying Kershaw folders, and have been very happy with them. The last 2 I've used have been the assisted opening variety. I'm getting lazy I guess. I have been carrying a Cryo for the last....oh.....probably 7 years. Been a great knife. When I first got it, I wasn't crazy about the edge profile, but it's pretty good now that I've worked on it.

I know what you mean, bikes get into your soul, seldom see any bikes here, my neighbour keeps his Yamaha trail bike in the garage here but I've yet to see him ride it.
The photo I posted was the Cafe just down the road from where I used to live, bikers from all over came there, fast roads with frequent casualties were always in the local news.

The knife laws here are as bad as the gun laws, years ago I always carried a fixed blade, even got searched by the cops and they didn't say anything about it, nowadays I would do time

Well how about that, only assisted opening knife I have. Got it on the trip up to Tahoe. $12.99, Chinese, 440 steel. Appears to be almost a knockoff of the Cryo II. Including blade length.

The German Macator knife was my edc until the back spring broke, I still carry the Swiss Army but that big old Marbles is just too big for the pocket.

Hey OS. That Cryo in the pic is the exact one I have. The color and style. There are a bunch of variants.
Good looking stuff GK. The Buck 112 is a much more substantial knive than the Cryo. I have one that is one of the first things I bought for myself when I was a kid. I wore it everywhere, even to school (the good old days). I wore out a couple cases. I haven't worn it in years.
They're a classic for sure.

I had the brass/wood 112 in the 70s. This one of course is the nylon handle type. Not as rugged but more carry friendly. I do have a traditional 110 which I have never really used.

Haha yup. I got my 112 in the 70s also. There was only one e option back then. They are much heavier than the synthetic handle version.
I have a 110 Ive never used too! I think it was a gift from down to the paper mill where my dad worked. They gave them to everyone when one of the paper machines were completed.

As you guys know in jolly old England we can't carry noisy things in our pockets and knives are not allowed to be owned for self defense, so any knife I carry is just for ordinary chores, the law states that we can use firearms and knives to defend ourselves but we cannot own anything even a cricket bat solely for self defense

Slip joint sub 3" blade is legal to carry, anything else we need proof that it's necessary for work or hunting etc.
I have knives of all types but I would be taking a chance with carrying anything not street legal.

Anyone have any experience of the Ithaca 66 single shot .410 ? I have seen one for sale but it looks rough and is over priced and a long way away. The receiver is made of aluminium so I'm dubious of it being hard wearing. Probably hang on for the illusive 16.

Hey guys! I was upstate for a few days and decided to keep it all quiet due to this thread being a cornfield……(too many ears)

We have all kinds of action around here with the escaped prisoner who is a double murderer…….it’s all over the national news……the day before yesterday me and mom went cruising around the back roads which are swarming with cops and News people………this guy is in a about a 3 mile section and they can’t catch him…..sightings all the time….breaking into houses, etc……..

State cops with M-4’s everywhere……….this guy they are looking for is a 5 foot beaner and weighs about 125 pounds and the cops on the side of the road are 5’ 10” and weigh 400 pounds……..they see him but can’t catch him……funnier than heck…….Me and mom were cruising in the Jeep and when I saw a state cop I asked him if the $20,000 reward was dead or alive……he laughed but I didn’t……had my own M-4 ready to make Swiss cheese out of him but mom wouldn’t let me saying I’d be on death row for community service……..yea, sad state of affairs.

There’s huge patches of woods from old money estates and it would be nothing to gather my old Teamster buddies up and flush him out……I’d be “point man” with the BAR……..and Miss Apple, our Shih Tzu would be the attack dog……all 14 pounds of her….——00

Well! I take a ride with my trail bike, and look at all the happenings while I'm gone! Rode out through the Burril woods in CORNVILLE! Stopped at the Chase Hill fire tower.
Before that, I ran up to the range to shoot that 86 some more. Should have been 10 minutes, but there were a couple buddies there so it was 2 hours. They were impressed with it. I got three of the 5 into the same hole, but the last two opened it to an inch or so. Oh well.....good enough.

Hey GK. I've never had or shot one of those, but have seen plenty. A guy I knew had one he used to use truck hunting for birds.

Ole Six is back! I'd been fretting, wondering if I should call. Or maybe get a search party of some local hillbillies to form a search down there. I know........it would be a lot of expense and trouble, but my buddy Six is worth it. I could always pick up a Colt or 86 to pay for gas. I'd call it even.
