RIP Jim Scoutten

Post by Rube Burrows »

The firearms community has lost another good one.

He had been looking frail the last time I saw him on camera. Sad to hear of his passing. Really enjoyed his show over the many years.

We are sadly losing too many good men from the shooting community, may he rest in peace.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

So.... as Bongino said on a recent podcast - we MUST GET IN THE ARENA instead of just sitting on the sidelines, ourselves.

The "good men" don't just spontaneously appear - they have to be RAISED and EDUCATED (in life, not academia), and this job falls on those of us in the shooting community who are just ordinary folks who 'get it', and who recognize the realities of the world, of history, of politics, of economics, AND of 'guns'. IT IS OUR JOB TO REPLACE the 'Good Men of the Shooting Community' with our kids and grandkids. Some of us may even qualify to be 'Good Men of the Shooting Community' ourselves, but part of our job in life is to replace OURSELVES. That is probably our most IMPORTANT job, if you get right down to it.

Too many of my 'boomer' generation have just given up. Let the nation go down the tubes. Who cares about the grandkids and beyond. Just let them deal with the poverty, violence, and depravity, instead of stopping it here and now.

Too many of my friends are willing to be 'brave' and will speak out, when in the gunshop, or on their favorite outdoor website, but have never written a letter to the editor, contacted their legislator, met with the mayor, or even donated any more than token amounts or basic membership to gun rights groups that would at least do those things on behalf of their lazy butts...

Most members here hopefully ARE politically active, but if not, why not...? Even if you are pessimistic enough to think it is 'futile', why not at least put forth the effort. Enjoy the fight, rather than just giving up.

Any day you can at least IRRITATE a liberal, is a good day.

Once in a while you can get some logical thought to penetrate their thick skulls (you have to keep it simple, and embed it with enough 'emotion' to offset the logic and fact part that they have so much trouble with).
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws
"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.
