The new Henry revolver ...
... is so incredibly, horribly, unforgivably ugly that I can't bear to link to it.
Re: The new Henry revolver ...
Yeah. Probably a decent revolver but it ain't winning any beauty prizes. I like Henrys and have a .22. I never warmed up to their rifles though based only on looks. I do like the Henry 1860 rifles they make.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
Ugly is in the eye of the beholder as the old saying goes.
I haven't looked at them very closely however, I give Henry a boat load of credit for developing and marketing a revolver!

I guess if you like a warmed over clunky version of a Marlin, you just might the same warmed over clunky version of a S&W! I'm sure those who're infatuated with the "Henry" cool-aid will flock to it!

My guess it was designed by a Democrat. At least the MSRP is just under $1,000 ...

To me they look like what might happen if Uberti reproduced Charter Arms or H&R revolvers and threw their brass grip frame treatment in and put it in a blister pack to sell at Cabelas
Re: The new Henry revolver ...
It might be more interesting if it were priced like a Ruger Wrangler, but.........

Certainly won't win any beauty contests. What about accuracy? If it is going to be ugly, it better be accurate.

they definitely looked hard at H&R revolvers. I'd like to see the lock works.

I think the brass was a mistake, blued steel would look better.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
Did you ever see a Winchester revolver? Kinda falls in that same category. I wish they would have made a Colt style steel frame single action .22 with color case frame.

Doomed to failure at that price. Could only compete with Charter so $400 would be too much.....

American made blue steel, brass, and walnut. No "plastic fantastic". It's all ok by me. They could have given a little more "Colt Lightning" appearance.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
I actually don’t think it looks that bad, however it would look a lot better if it was $400 as has been said. There’s a lot of very worthy competition in the thousand dollar price point.
Compared to the Rock Island revolver a, this one is a tractive. But it’s like being at the beer joint and evaluating your prospective next short term girlfriend. On a scale of 1 to 10, with a Colt or S&w being a 10, this rid is a 5; however the RIA is a 3 so in a room full of 3’s the 5 wins
I saw a YouTube video where they were bringing out a modern rendition of the marlin camp nine carbine that also appeared captivating until I saw test and in this particular instance it was a jam O-Matic. I very much admire the effort for attempting to bring cool stuff to market, but with a price a couple hundred bucks higher than the Ruger takedown 9 mm, I’m afraid they won’t so many even if they fix the bugaboos

Well I may have to eat a little crow! I just watched a test by Boge Quinn over at Gun Blast testing the Henry revolvers. He has nothing but good things to say about those guns. Fit, finish and accuracy top shelf. A thorough and lengthy review resulted in flawless operation and accuracy with lots of different loads. He even addresses the looks complaints and shows several old Colt double actions I have thought of as classics and the resemblance is striking.

I mentioned before that my Colt Lawman is my “go-to” for any full size revolver business (but trying to warm up to the new 3” Python I splurged on over the winter) but I would never say the Lawman is pretty
The profile of these does look like a Lawman or early generation Trooper if I squint just right. The brass highlights just throw the whole package off though

Some of those old Colt double actions were ugly and some did not work well, the internals being fragile. The truly "classic" Colts are the Model P and the 1911. Everyone and their cousins have copied them. Today, how many companies have made or are making 1911's?

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
I think it's the brass and the unshrouded ejector that turn me off. Both make me feel like the gun is devolved. The unshrouded ejector just says 'cheap' ... yet, it's got a $928 MSRP? The cylinder latch seems small for no apparent reason ... there seems to be room for it to have been a bit larger. And what's that red plastic thing at the back of the cylinder mounted in the recoil shield? My first thought is that they couldn't hold tolerances in that area so they stuck a plastic disk in there to take up the slack ... problem solved! And the notch in the barrel for the ejector clearance? You mean they couldn't spare the extra 30 thousandth's to have it clear an uncut barrel?
Sorry, I just think their design choices are offensive. They result in poor aesthetics. It may be a perfectly functional and reasonable quality firearm ... it just doesn't "look" that way at first glance.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
I have the same thoughts as many of you here, but after watching the Gun Blast video I have a more favorable opinion. I like the extra
front sites that come with it too. Mr. Quinn was quite adamant about the quality being much better than Charter Arms.
Anyway, for that price I would probably go for a S&W or a GP100.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
I must admit, I'm not much of a fan of revolvers, except for single actions, because of the high bore axis and the fact that I got my right wrist crushed in an accident when I was 14. So, I notice the torque of any muzzle flip when shooting.
So, if I shoot 6 rds of hot .357mag from a 6" S&W 686, my wrist will be sore the next day, however, I can shoot 200 rds of hot 10mm from my custom G20/21L without any discomfort at all. Such is the nature of the torque a revolver imparts on one's wrist vs a low axis semi-auto.
That said, I have to agree that the Henry models shown are less than inspiring to me. Their high bore axis gives them the look of being a bit squished with their short barrels. Also, they don't look like quality designs. Something about their look says "Cheap" to me.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
My take on the Henry wheelguns is this. I'm always glad to see arms manufacturers bringing new products to market, even if it's something that doesn't appeal to me. I love their rifles but I must admit their revolvers don't really do anything for me. I'm a die hard S&W fan and the list of revolvers of another brand that I would like to add is a very short select few. They do seem to be pretty spendy compared to what a new or even a classic P&R S&W can be had for.

I am not excited about it either but I seen a youtube review and it is actually polished blue unlike their rifles. So they got that right.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
I can get a stainless steel Charter Arms 357 for about half the price. No thank you.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
I believe much of this thread is plagiarized from premier reviews of the Ruger "Security Six".
Re: The new Henry revolver ...
S&W, Ruger, Colt, Kimber for similar money. Charter, RIA, NAA, Ruger Wrangler, maybe Taurus or Rossi on the cheap. Top of the line Colts or S&W, the BFR, or FA if you want to be fancy. The Henry’s are too high for what they are. The fit and finish may justify the cost but the styling is a bit off. Not hideous to me but not quite there. The bird heads look almost cute but not $900 cute. The brass is weird but Henry has always had a fascination with brass. If I won one, or was gifted one, I would enjoy it but for the price point it isn’t for me.
Personally, I have a J, L, and N frame and an ancient First Model DA from S&W, and a Charter Arms Undercover for double actions.
My single actions are all Ruger.
Re: The new Henry revolver ...
No one seems to be questioning the fit and finish or he reliability. But, they are butt ugly. Even H&R's were pretty ugly with the exception of the 999. Btut they weren't priced in the same realm as S&W's.

The Henry revolver won't win any beauty contests!
I'll stick with Colt's & S&W myself.

The looks of that Henry revolver reminds me of the extinct pot metal and plastic German RG's. That price is way out of line.

Re: The new Henry revolver ...
don't know about the quality, there's no reason with modern fabrication that it CAN'T have quality materials. it looks good in pictures.
BUT it cannot compete with my M-66 that I paid a fraction of a grand for, made meat with, carried around close at hand. makes me wonder who the market for the Henry is .
.
IDK, does it have a Dick Tracey vibe? I can't tell
