Maybe a convert?

Post by Walt »

My shooting partner and I went out early this past Saturday morning and found a young man wandering around picking up brass where we normally shoot. He was driving a nice-looking Mercedes and wearing a dark hoodie and when I asked whether he was shooting or just picking up brass, he replied that he might shoot later. He said he didn't mind if we went ahead and set up my gongs, that he would look elsewhere in the area for brass. I thanked him and invited him to come back and shoot a few rounds with us and after half an hour he did just that. He kept wanting us to shoot his "homebuilt" AR but my buddy and I declined. My shooting partner had brought out a couple of rimfire single actions, a .22 bolt action and a .44 spl Ruger Flattop and I had a couple of Smith .38s, also a .44 Flattop and a Marlin Cowboy limited in .44 mag loaded with 1000 fps loads.

He couldn't get enough. He had never shot anything but black guns and loved the single actions. He did best with the Marlin lever with Skinner peep sight and came away enthused. We may have a young convert!

.
Pretty hard not to like leverguns and single action revolvers. ESPECIALLY if they have good sights and thus you can hit well with them.

I was always surprised how much interest my leveractions, flintlocks and Cap n Ball revolvers got at the club from newbie shooters.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
