If you look at the high bidder's history, he's made five figure purchases for not that uncommon guns in the past. Looks like a couple of guys with way more money than sense.

Anybody know how to contact that guy? I’ve got a pre-64 model 94 that I’d be interested in selling to him….
If a run of the mill Marlin is worth that surely my 94 is worth at least $15k….

That's really odd. I saw that gun come up in my feed, but I never figured that it would go for that kind of money.

it seems like a lot to me. but pickup trucks with a couple of options are getting up around 100k. there are probably thousands of Americans who can keep bidding the prices up. Same with 1886's. They can by ten a day and still not run out of money in their lifetimes. inflation? they don't care. it cannot get to them. that's just the way it is these days

I hope they are nuts.
I had one still new in the box and my friend really wanted it $300, I know it's a real good deal but it is a friend and it's his first rifle.
It was actually gifted to me for something I did for a friend.

It's amazing how people get swept up in insanity when they observe it going on around them. It's contagious.
It's like the last days of Rome in this trailer fire we called the USA.
I see more and more things, that while I'd like to have, I just can't justify. What I can't figure out is where people get the money to do incredibly stupid things such as this.

I just don't understand what people are buying today, yeah that's cool but WT .. are you going to do with it?
I have absolutely ZERO desire for a AK47, not that I would take one if someone gave it to me, but nope.

Yeah.
I'm a firm believer in having a fighting rifle. That being said, I see so many pay exorbitant prices for the semi auto of their choice, but then have no money for mags, parts, or ammo. Let alone being able to effectively use it. Like having this thing somehow guaranteed their survival.
In case like that, they'd be better off with a 10/22 and a few bricks of ammo.

I've recently come into enough money that I can purchase any firearms or other stuff that I wish with almost no limit. Since it happened, I haven't purchased anything. I already have a few quality firearms, none of which are valuable, but all of which are good hunters. My 18 year old pickup runs well enough that I won't think of replacing it for a long time. My wife and I are both happy living a simple life and don't need more things to make us happy.

IF they had any to begin with! Whatever happened to the days when all people had was 1 rifle, 1 handgun and 1 shotgun (if they were lucky enough to have the need!)! Unfortunatly, those days seem to be LONG gone!

Hell yeah, I have two 94' one is an original 1954 94, and a mid 70's 94 both in nerty-nerty.....

I can't believe that, I had a mid 70's Marlin 336 in 30-30...got it for my birthday from Dad. Dang, wish I would have held onto that one. Who would have known. But, this can't be legit right, that's double rifle money.

Have you seen the prices these dealers are selling the new 1895's for? $2000.00+ for a MARLIN? Honestly, I bought a Henry 45-70 with the loading gate 1895 knockoff and I've been perfectly happy with it.
I worked the action to smooth it out and tweaked the extractor so it engages easier and she chambers as fast as you can move the lever. darn accurate too. The only thing I don't like is the LOP is a little off so its a stretch to work the lever to full stroke; about .75 of the butt stock needs trimming. And, according to the factory rep I spoke to, it can handle ANY load that the Marlin can, IE: P+, Buff Bore, Grizzly etc... I've been going over my McPherson, and believe the same mods he did on the 1895JM can be done to the Henry. I wouldn't mind getting a little more length on the cartridge for bullet depth.
But I digress...sorry

Your absolutely right, I don't know how people afford this stuff....my salary hasn't risen in years, but sh** keeps going up in price. A stupid under powered Jeep Wrangler is 75k with a waiting list to buy one. I can sell my 6 month old Ranger I just bought for 10K more than I paid for it due to back log, its crazy. Wait until this bubble burst and all those poor fools who over paid are upside down on their "stuff". Another subprime bailout?

Ar in 300blk, 870 and a G23! Of course I need something in 5.56 to burn up the ammo to convert to 300blk! I'm not about to get rid of my Win 94 and '41 Win 70, the 94 came from my Dad and the 70 came from my Grandfather, though!

That's why socialists are never happy; they measure all by materialistic and monetary value, and spend their lives trying to take stuff from others they resent for having too much, and think they are making others happy when they share the largesse and call it 'charity'. It doesn't occur to them that there is more to life than material things; they have no real concept of spirituality beyond mimicry of whatever fashionable trendy rituals they can play with. It is sad, but moreso irritating, because the shallowness leads to envy and that leads to resentment and eventually violence.
Socialism never ends well.
