All this .22 rimfire talk makes me think seriously about buying one of the .22 LR reloading kits. It might be a way to bring back the .22 short.

I've thought about that. then i wondered how many actual live rounds of .22 would be displaced by the tools and components to reload, then i remembered that i can't run out of 22 ammo, 'cause i don't shoot it any more . . .

but i like the idea of reloading it. then i starting thinking about a 22 cal flintlock, which combines reloading with shooting in a good way. the followup shot is just moments away . . .

then i think about making a piezo striker to replace the flint mechanism, which makes the .22 more easily downsized . . .

but that always reminds me that i don't need to go there any way, and it's off to another waiting project.

Even though a piezo crystal has been known about for a long time, the purists would probably consider it to be cheating. I think it sounds like a fun idea.
