Winchester mod.71 Short or Long tang?

Looking to buy a Winchester Model 71 in a month or two should I buy a long tang or short tang??

Is one preferred over the other if so why ?

Long tangs are the early production guns. Can't remember the cutoff date, I'm sure someone will fill it in.
There is probably more collector value with the guns, but as far as shooting, it doesn't make a difference.
They are a beautiful rifle, but are big and heavy. I have a short tang version. I did get to shoot a moose with it.
For deer hunting I never use it

Buying any model 71 means you have money to spend so take it from me, don't go second fiddle and get a post war gun....while both are excellent the fit, finish, and the mechanics of the pre war gun is night and day compared to post war guns........some people don't notice this but I do.

When did you come out of hiding??? If you want to see a long tang in the flesh I know where one is.
