Finally!!

Post by wvfarrier »

Ive been watching this guy all year.   He was super clever and reluctant to come out in the daylight.   I decided to take a shot and sprayed some doe in estrus spray.  He showed up with in 30 minutes.   My arrow passed through his right shoulder, blew his heart out , deflected off a rib which broke and exited out his upper back.   He ran about 40 yards and jumped in the darn river.  He made so much noise i thought for sure he crossed to the opposing bank.  I looked and looked but couldnt find him, finally out of my peripheral vision i spotted an antler sticking out of the water.  He was incrediby heavy.   Lost a good bit of meat due to the damage but man, what a deer.

NICE!
I have seen many deer go to water over the years. Sadly if they hit a bigger river they are sometimes lost, happened to a buddy of mine- later in the season the buck was found by a game warden, dead on a small island. Knowing only a few guys had permits for that area he asked around and gave the rack to my buddy that originally shot it.

My son in law shot a doe on my place two nights ago. It was a one lung shot. The doe ran across my yard , down the main driveway across three adjoininng neighbors yards and pretty much died where he was shot at. He basically ran a circle and ended up back by the stream. Like you and he said , they almost runs to water when injured.
