Hmm, so what i get from that is standard 44 mag load data can be used in a 44wcf as long as its in a 92 or stronger action. Is that right?
Missed that one... I was busy over in Uncle Sam's southeast Asian games... But until I bought my Lightning (Colt rifle replica), I've never owned a .44-40... And won't be using any heavy loads in it, anyway!

frankly I'm pretty sure the 44-40 brass isn't nearly as strong as 44 mag.....

Does not necessarily matter. The 44 Magnum was designed for revolvers, not rifles.

yeah, it does matter - pressure is pressure
So take a good look at the photo, do you seriously think there is much difference between the three? Seriously?
I can safely get 1800 fps with 2400 powder with a 200 gr. xtp bullet in a 1894 Marlin 44-40.
with a 265 gr. Hornady & RL7 I was getting close to 1400 fps & 1400 fps with a 245 gr. cast bullet
also with RL7. no ill effects with any of the loads. I may play with more RL7 in the case with the 44-40
with the heavier bullets
