SNAKE!
Mama was cleaning out her pool today and discovered this Cottonmouth living in the pool eating frogs. She had tried to live up to the woman in BC who chopped them up with her hoe. She put it in a bucket after beating it with a shovel but I couldn't miss the chance to use one of the Colt SAAs I'm currently playing with to take it's head off. Made in 1907 and refurbished who knows when it is now a .357 with 5 1/2 inch wartime barrel (address on side of barrel) and Micro sights. Magnum brass with 158 grain bullet over 6 grains of Herco. Not real stout but plenty good snake medicine especially since this was not a very big one.

Good show. We can do without the poisonous ones.

I hope you tipped it out of the bucket before you shot it.... well done anyway.

Re: SNAKE!
Cool. I am OK with most snakes, but am not fond of the ones which can kill.

It is difficult to shoot fish in a barrel by taking them out of the barrel.gamekeeper wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 3:16 am I hope you tipped it out of the bucket before you shot it.... well done anyway.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Re: SNAKE!
I have some shot capsules in .429 that I filled with number 9 shot. Around 5.5 grains of Universal gives a good pattern at 10 feet. It punches all the way through a standard thickness of cardboard. No snakes have been willing to be test subjects, SO it is unproven yet as to whether it would kill a snake. The shot capsules are pushed in by thumb pressure and crimped as little as I can make it go. I am trying to not crack the plastic shot capsule. If I never have a venomous snake volunteer to be a test subject, I guess I will learn to accept it.

When I was a kid, I shot a chipmunk with my Marlin 1894 levergun....but it was in front of a brand new heavy-duty wheelbarrow....gamekeeper wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 3:16 am I hope you tipped it out of the bucket before you shot it.... well done anyway.
I tried to convince my mom that the hole could work for draining out water so it would keep dry and rust less, but could be plugged by a cork when we wanted to haul anything fine or liquid....

Don't worry about the bucket boys. Mama made me let her dump it out before I shot it.
