32-20 jacketed load data
folks I was looking to reload this in an 1892 a friend has. Its a modern win/ miroku, he doesnt reload himself but wants to try economical powder loads with the 85-100 gn jacketed bullets. We were thinking of getting to 1300-1400fps should be possible using 5-7 grains of fast burners. The larger 357 has fast burning options doing similar with its own bullets and moderate pressures. That whole performance level of data seems to be missing from 32-20 literature though. Any suggestions?

Marlin 1894CL
I chronographed some factory loads. These were all quite mild. You can approximate them with a 115 gr. - 120 gr. bullet and 3.8 gr. Bullseye.

Hi Jim, what velocity/brand are the factory loads in question?
Re: 32-20 jacketed load data
Im assuming you are talking about cast loads as well?

Re: 32-20 jacketed load data
My standard load for your desired velocity range (1400 fps) is 10 grains of 5744 with my 117 grain Ranch Dog cast bullet but my notes show that I have also used 5.5 grains of Unique for nearly the same velocity (1360 fps). This is in a Savage m23 with 24" bbl.
QuickLoad suggests that the Unique load is a maximum pressure load for the old 32/20 but the 5744 load is much milder. QuickLoad also suggests that substituting a 110 grain Speer jacketed bullet would drop the Unique load nicely below maximum pressures.
So you are correct in your assumptions that you should be able to do such loads readily enough. But I also don't have a published source for those loads: gotta be some out there though.

Paco Kelly did a couple of articles on the 32-20.
There's bound to be a load in there somewhere that will fit your needs.

I only shoot cast bullets in mine, 105 gr rnfp and 12 gr ADI AR2207 (similar to 4198, RL7, Win680).
