What a day I had ...

Post by Bill in Oregon »

So I get a referral to a urologist based on ultrasound of bladder and enlarged prostate. PSA is good. Doxazosin is mostly "keeping things flowing."
Couldn't get out of the office without the old D.R.E., however, dang it. It was kinda embarrassing since the doctor was female. "Everything feels just fine," she said as she removed and discarded her gloves.

:o  :?

I don't mind a female Doc doing that. The last one had tiny hands. The Doc before that should have been a basket ball player! I thought I was going to pass out!

Believe me - it's worse for the doctor:

1. We deal with it several times a day instead of once a year... :|
2. We suffer far more fear of "what if the glove breaks" than the patient does...

It is probably even worse if the patient is a bit hygienically challenged.

Several years ago I had a CA DMV test done by a female DR. The "turn your head and cough" test was handled (!) quite nicely with her gloved hand and reaching under my gown (but still bothered/embarrassed me). Then just a few months ago I had the old "bend over and place your elbows on the table" test also done by a female DR. The whole ordeal lasted less than ten seconds, and with my advancing age I really didn't care... :|

Glad it is managed by medication. Depending on the severity, surgery is sometimes required. That does not always go well.
