Feeling A Little Homesick for Africa Tonight
My wife passed from this life about 4 years ago in Africa. We loved living there and totally enjoyed our life there. Tonight I am feeling a bit homesick and missing her. Please indulge me ... I don't mean to weigh anyone down with it ...

Once you arrived there, I felt in my heart that's where you were meant to be. It takes special people, close to God, to sell everything and move to a hostile land to do His work.

Jim, you and Twyla were blessed, the photos of all those smiling faces you often posted proved that your work in Mozambique was not in vain.
BTW your book arrived today, nice to see some handguns pictured.

Jim, feeling your pain -- really. I have your book at hand and look forward to reading it. It is hard to believe you lost Twyla four years ago. I remember all those e-mails and photos you sent while you were over there -- especially those happy kids and young people in Twyla's classes.

This is not a slam at anyone and I hope and pray no one takes it that way ...gamekeeper wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 4:29 am Jim, you and Twyla were blessed, the photos of all those smiling faces you often posted proved that your work in Mozambique was not in vain.

We received as much help from gun people .. maybe more .. than we did from religious organizations. Part of that was due to the fact that I had met so many in the firearms industry and at shooting events over the years. They knew me and trusted that I would be honest with what they gave.
As you read the book it will stand out in places.
I appreciate all the Levergunners who thought of us .. prayed for us .. and who to this day I consider as friends though I have not met some of them in person.
Re: Feeling A Little Homesick for Africa Tonight
Jim, your wife was a big part of your life, and Africa was important to both of you. Feeling a sense of loss for such a large portion of your life is absolutely understandable. Yes, you do have a bunch of friends here with whom you can share. Sadness shared is sadness lessened, but joy shared is joy multiplied. Indirectly quoted from Callahan's Cross Time Saloon.

Those of who never even met her actually miss her as well, because your posts helped us to know her.
Her spirit lives through all the others she has touched and helped along with you.
Still, I understand the emptiness that one feels in such cases. We're here to the extent we can help full some of the void (...but other than BlaineG, probably none of us qualifies as very 'cuddly'....).

Jim, melancholy comes to mind . . . I think it's a blessing that we can have such vivid time and place memories . . . it amounts to fellowship in His Spirit
I can assure you that Blaine does not qualify as very cuddly . . .(...but other than BlaineG, probably none of us qualifies as very 'cuddly'....)

In no time at all Jim, just a blink of an eye, you'll be together again. Take care.

Jim,
It’s just an opinion of mine so please take it for what it’s worth..
It’s long been my belief that the secret to eternal life lies in what we leave behind with people we cared for while we were here. Your Twyla left part of herself with so many people in Mozambique that surely she lives on in them.
