I made one of those a little while ago but it had a more earthly purpose. Call the chapter & verse according to J. M. Browning. Used some shoe polish to darken the wood and give it an 'aged textured'. Looks absolutely at home on a book shelf.

Your project inspires me to do another for my wife's bed side bible.

I LIKE it. My old Dake Bible is falling apart so I should make one for it. Now that I have the Blue Letter Bible APP on my phone I almost never carry a Bible. The church we belong to is so far out in the woods that there is no reception there so I can only use the KJV while there.
