I always wondered what that would do...

Growing up I found Marbles to be among the best choices for use out of my wrist rocket when hunting squirrels and rabbits.

Makes me curious now what velocity that surgical tubing produced.

Those TFM guys are crazy. If you asked nicely, I'm pretty sure they'd fire a ham sandwich out of a shotgun

I was amazed at the durability of the marble.

Being the curious type, I checked on Amazon and marbles are about the same price each as .22 rimfire :o

12 ga. is a great platform for an amazing number of 'specialty' loadings. My Dad wrapped a Timkin Tapered Roller Bearing in oiled linen, loaded it in place of a Magnum load of 00 Buck and fired it through 3/8" thick steel easily. My "fun" load is a .720" diameter ball cast of wheelweights at 1450 fps from 18" barrels of a double. Anymore it don't seem so much fun on old shoulders.

my fun load is a .69 cal round ball in the shot cup of a bird shot shell, replacing the shot with equal weight. melt the shot, repeat.... I have the molds but so far haven't cast anything. this should work just as well with a ball bearing. it's more accurate than I would have guessed at living room barn yard ranges. I guess I should look for some 69 cal marbles. That should be a substantial velocity increase, eh?

Looking at my stuff I realize my earlier post was in error ... the round ball is cast from a mold I got from Dixie Gun Works and it cast a .730" ball ... full bore diameter. You really don't want to shoot these through a choked barrel. The ball weighs over 560 gr. from wheelweights.

The round ball is shown with one of the slugs I was experimenting with. The ball is more accurate.

I used a regular wad (top) but cut the "fingers" off (bottom)

My standard load was 28 gr. of Unique.
I shot several cars with these and never had a ball stop in a car.
Penetration was quite amazing.
This was our camp gun when camping in bear country.

My 20ga load - 370 grs pure lead ball (.626") over 95 grs 2F black powder for 1350 fps.

Next to a 30-06 case for perspective.
