Strange EDC, I bet the UK government will ban Narwhal tusks and fire extinguishers next.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

And the world wide condemnation of the violence by the media and the moderate/peaceful Muslims is deafening!

Said it before and I'll say it again: the radical Muslim wants to slit the infidels' throats; the peace/moderate Muslims wants the radicals to do it....

OT, mE AND MYCOWORKER WERE DISCUSSING DEATHS BY HANDGUNS in other countries ,Supposably it is like 1.6 deaths per 100,00 in london. They never mentioned deaths by other means. I need to look up murders per capita instead to see who really stands out. The usa is near the top with handgun murders, how do we rate death by other means? What i'm trying to say, even if we ban handguns, will it lower murder rates since the bad guys will kill you by other means available?

I think blunt force trauma out kills hand gun wounds, only 10% of which are fatal, according to the CDC... if you remove suicides from the handgun murder rate gunshots are a lot less significant. according to the CDC, IIRC . . . .

Abortions are murder and they exceed hand gun kills. Clubs, fists, baseball bats, bricks, etc are all great weapons of agression... just about anything you can pick up actually.....

YES, thank you. I never understood the argument that the US has more gun deaths than another country that doesnt have guns. Well, of course we do! but why aren't we comparing the violence rates - not just the gun violence rates???? Its like, lots of people in Africa are killed by lions, but you don't see people comparing the number of lion caused deaths in Africa to the number of lion caused deaths in Greenland like its some kind of meaningful comparison.

Also, I was recently reading the US murder statistics from I think last year, and the number of hammer murders was greater than the number of rifle murders (including "assult" rifles).

Yep.

Also the definitions of 'violent crime' and even 'murder' are twisted by many of the folks doing 'international comparisons'. The book "The Samurai, the Mountie, and the Cowboy" by David Kopel goes into much of it in detail.

Many reputable sites have data showing that indeed the U.S. is a rather safe place from violent crime, even 'gun' violence, relative to most of the world.

Of course if you exclude the worst ten or so out of the over 3,000 counties within the U.S., the murder rate drops to nearly zero.

Abortion of course - is another matter (not really) - entirely, or at least is a different issue legislatively.

Wow - I just read one of the reports about the London Bridge terrorist, and they stated "Armed police were on the scene within five minutes, which is an encouraging thought if you’re worried about being attacked by terrorism in London: the rapid response teams are clearly ready and available on high alert."

Most CCW licensees can draw and fire in well under ten seconds. :|

Sure they will and do him for premeditated attempted murder with an illegal body part from a protected species.
He will do five years of a ten year sentence. Be released sodomised and on heroin. Then go on to try and commit mass murder with a wet fish or something similar like a French stick, probably vegan anyway!

the majority of the suicide calls I go to are done with handguns... last one I went to the old guy shot himself twice, he was slightly off with the first shot, reacquired his shooting position and was successful with the second shot... :(

Old saying: There are lies, darned lies, and Statistics.

Sad to point out, but suicides will use whatever is obtainable and easy. If they are truly suicidal and free from restraint, there is not really much of any way to prevent them from achieving their goal. Freedom does have its costs. Sorry for the thread drift.

If it would have been in many places in the U.S., where one out of six adults have CCW licenses (and a few more carry without a license), one of the first few people he encountered would have just double-tapped him.

Sorry to disagree(respectfully) with you Doc but it was in a big city. That being able to defend yourself Pelosi don’t fly in big cities. Remember let the bad guy do whatever they want, until the people with guns arrive.
