Didn't burn any gun powder today but deep fried 2 turkeys. Used Emeryl's recipe for brine and rub and boy were they good! Maybe I'll shoot something tomorrow.

Excellent video Len.
Man you dwarf that marlin. Your a big fellow but that 45/70 looks to be getting your attention. What kind of loading was it Len? Looks quite hot.

+1 probably why we haven't seen as many arrows at the Pitchy Homestead lately........ nice to see you shooting Lenn, I too enjoyed the muzzle flash.

Never used 4198 for my 45/70. I load 49 gr H322 with Rem 405 SP. Planning to work up a softer load for my Marlin 1895.
Great shooting there Lenn..

I just opened my "care package" of various 45-70 cast bullets from Ron. I'm looking forward to trying some out in my 1886! The only bullet I've used previously is a 325 RFN plain base. I'll have to do an attitude adjustment to slow my loads down. I think my drive to extract more velocity was at the base of my problems with accuracy!

Looks like you had fun Lenn... And cold... I'm leaving next Saturday for Marshall, MN... I'm hoping for a warm window...

Pitchy,
Liking your Marlin Cowboy rifle.
I almost bought one before I discovered it did not come in 45-90.
So I bought my 1886 45-90 TD with 26 inch barrel. It is heavier, but that helps dampen the recoil.

Son bought a plow truck so he`s going to plow us out, we`ll see how that goes give me and the old JD a rest. 8)
crs i almost bought a Pedersoli Quigley Sharps in that cal but got it in 45-70 because that`s what i shoot most but then was told i could of shot 45-70 in it anyway.

Enjoyed the video, Pitchy. I'm starting to dig my way out from underneath a mountain of work that has kept me buried all fall .... just in time to get buried by snow! :D

I know a mechanic,a little fella, who got a marlin cowboy in 45-70, and a Smith in 500 mag. He shot both exactly one shot! Now both are for sale :D gonna look at the revolver if it has the long barrel.

I actually traded a 500 Smith for the Cowboy, also it has the JM stamp on it.
