Well we’ll see I loaded six with 16 grains of W572 and six with 14 grains of SR7625 , these are the same powder charges I used with 3/4-7/8 ounce loads of buckshot . The Claybuster AA-HS wads are tight at the base going thru the chokes . The slug alone rattled thru the barrel and at the front end of the shot cup it seems snug but not overly tight . To keep it at the top I needed to put two 1/8” 410 card wads in the bottom of the shot cup and of course I filled the hollow base with hot melt glue to keep the 410 wads and or the bottom of the shot cup from sticking in the hollow base . Same protocol I follow in the other gauges with these Lyman style pellet slugs .

Shot twelve rounds of slugs today six with W572 and six with SR7625 . The best at 25 yards was the right barrel with SR7625 .

And the not so great ones shot with W572 I shot both the right and left barrels at the same box just at different times

Now I want to try the buck loads pushed with W572 and SR7625 again to decide on the best choices for the left barrel . Then hopefully I can pot a doe with the little Parker 28 this season .

Looks like the open choke likes those slugs well enough!

I'm really curious to see how well the left throws buck.

What are the chokes?

It’s supposedly choked full and full . Although the right full might be a skoosh less than the left full . I shot #1 , #2 and #3 buckshot handloads in it last week . Tried six powders SR7625 , W572 and Universal Clays seemed the best and I loaded more of the W572 and SR7625 . Both powders for all three sizes . Might try them again tommorrow as long as there’s no rain .

I think I bombed out on getting any of the Brenneke factory loads , had them on order but the two distributors never came through . So if I live long enough and the creek don’t rise I’d like to do in a deer with my slug handload and one deer each for each size of buckshot . It’s going to look kinda funny carrying that little gun to the tree in a gun sock

5 pellets in a wad? Nothing there thats terrible pattern wise. I really hope you get a chance to smack a nice fat doe with it!

Oh by the way what diameter are those slugs?

8 pellets #1 , 12 pellets #2 and 15 pellets #3 . All loads had the petals removed from the Claybuster knock off of the WAA28 HS wad and they were loaded in Remington 28 STS hulls .

All jokes aside when I take this one out it’ll wear a gun sock until I have it up whatever tree I’m gonna be perched in .

At my chosen spots ground blinds aren’t much good . Twenty plus feet up in the air is a far better plan .

Black Friday this year was pretty neat ! I sat in a treestand until about 09:00 then came to the house changed clothes and went to the gun club shot a round of skeet with the little VH 28 then a round with the Parker G1 10 gauge hammer with 26” , then a round with the Parker PH 10 gauge and another round with the Parker DH 12 gauge 3 frame 32” . Didn’t shoot any perfect but did better then 21 with each gun . I also started shooting the new to me Browning Superposed Broadway trap gun but broke a firing pin after five or six shots .

Went out this afternoon to reinforce my trust in the little 28 with slugs and buckshot . Tried three slugs from the right barrel at 25 yards and then one shot with the left barrel loaded with #1 buck .

So I have the little Parker in a gun sock in the gun boot on the ATV . Tommorrow morning I’m going to take the VH 28 along with my 6mm-06 , gonna hunt the same stand I killed the funny looking buck the first day of the VA gun season .

And finally a single shot again from the left barrel with #3 buck . Tommorrow I’ll be loaded with a slug in the right and #1 in the left .
