Flint and pheasant.
Rained all night.....again!
Temps dropped and a sun!
Perfect for hunting roosters with a flintlock.

Which smooth bore is that? Of course migh.t as well give load specifics again. todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

It's in 12 g. Made by Artax ( who ever they are or were!).3leggedturtle wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 2:23 pm Which smooth bore is that? Of course migh.t as well give load specifics again. todd/3leg
Load, err, think the measure was throwing about 70gr and then some thin cards and then about an ounce plus of English #6.
The flint wasn't knapped by me, it was smashed by me!
The gun has not been cleaned for weeks. Just the cold bore swabbed and dried and then greased with an olive oil and beeswax mix. No rust what so ever.

I love the way Jess watches your every move, pretty country at this time of year.....
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

What is wrong with those trees? That is what those tall round things are, right? I thought they were supposed to be green on top, or brown like they are here in Texas.

Such a lovely outing! The sound of the little creek almost put me to sleep. I know Jess must enjoy too. We just got back from taking our Oreo to the vet. A big 3" gash in the front of left hind leg. We just left her as it is down in the twenties and precipitating every emaginable type to frozen or freezing water. Plenty of everything in the frig and pantry so we can just stay in a few days.
